Albie,

Nice post, great perspective.

In reference to them "giggl"-ing, it is my belief that these attitudes arise from other places withing the company from a guttural level. Back in the day, when organizing efforts were underway (and since), the "unionist" was painted as a pariah. I would go so far as to say that the company's PR machine spent considerable efforts to foster ill-will (envy, despise, _____ fill in the blank) toward the pilot group in the other employee-groups' eyes. I think this attitude has been internalized, in varying degrees, from employee #1 on.

That said, I think it becomes incumbent on all of us to take other people's (FOX admin types, ramp agents, your home courier, and even ACP's) attitudes and actions with a grain of salt. We gain NOTHING by be being belligerant, except maybe proving the company right: those pilots really are all b-holes.

Show up prepared, be professional, and try to wear a smile. Like you said, the only one we hurt by not doing this is ourselves, individually AND collectively.

One step at a time.

The canceling of ground transportation was supposed to be fixed according to an E Mail I have from Contract Enforcement. I haven't had to use it for a while but you should be able to expense it if the scheduled ground transport isn't there.

Here is the gist of the email written in May:

This has been corrected and GT should not be cancelled. Additionally the company is working on software that will hopefully be ready in September that will allow pilots who deviate to specify which leg they are deviating on.

I realize that our billion $ company can not figure out how to fix the single leg cancelation problem but they should be able to let you keep the ground transportation.

I talked with several in scheduling and finally got thru to a coherent scheduler that told me this-

When you deviate it shows a line stating ground transpo canceled. This means the transpo is still scheduled and is a flag to the scheduler to check and see if all crewmembers have deviated or if there is still one or more who are not deviating. They will check this daily until the trips starts.

If all crewmembers deviate, the scheduler will indeed cancel the grnd transpo and the block for the transpo name and phone will completely disappear. This is from less than 30 days ago.

Gunter is right. Just be patient, as they don't look at it till near the transpo time, but it won't be canceled unless you both deviated.

And if they do in error? That what the mastercard is for, I suppose......

Exclamation still....be aware

cancelling individual legs of a deadhead in VIPS:

VIPS now leads you to believe that you can selectively cancel legs (like in the old days) - problem "solved" - NOT!!

FOX will still cancel ALL LEGS of a dh once you cancel ANY legs in VIPS

so make sure you call Global Travel immediately after you deviate in VIPS in order to re-book the legs you "think" you didn't cancel

better yet, call GT before you deviate in VIPS and double book the flight under a separate reservation so that when the original one is cancelled by FOX, you already have the flight re-booked

bottom line is don't show up for the second leg of a commercial dh fat, dumb, and happy thinking you only canx the first leg - you won't have a ticket/reservation waiting.....this problem has not been "fixed"

I know he is right they do cancel it. Just pointing out it was addressed in the spring and CE said they had it resolved. Scheduled ground transportation is supposed to be available if you "catch up with the pairing. I haven't had the chance yet but if ever I arrive in time to take the scheduled GT and it is not there I will expense it and try to force the issue.

With the loss of most of the "good" dh pairing in the boeing it is not much of an issue to me. Other "deviant" issue are.
