Well with my .02, we're still short of a nickel. Back to the salt mines.

Because even with a secondary line we USE vacation by the hour, not the day.

Not anymore! Any VAC in the month counts towards leveling now, no matter whether its before or after the R-days!

Great if you are senior enough to hold something other than VTO.

For this December, that's 68 to 77:12. So, take 42 hrs from that, and you get a possible 26 to 35 hrs of trips added to your VTO line. That's 4 to 6 days of work.

So, in a 28 day month, you end up with 22 to 24 days off. Me? I ended up with 23 days off. And, a BLG of 72 hrs.

You are correct that you are only guaranteed 11 consecutive days( 7 day vacation + 4 days of buffer), on VTO. Doing better than that, of course, depends on your seniority. And, I would argue that if you can't do it on VTO, you probably wouldn't be able to do better on a regular line.
I will diagree here. You still have the option for expansion when holding a regular line and your days off (other than scheduled vacation) are not at the whim of skeds.

I also like using my vacation hours, in fact, I like using more than my vacation hours. With PBS/VTO it is impossible to go in the hole on your vacation bank

Just my .02.
It removes the options for all seniority levels

Explain to me, what's wrong with that? Unless you're going to tell me that I used 42 hours of vacation.

BTW...I'm still adamantly against a PBS system here.
You got lucky. This time.

Oh...OK.

Like I said, if you can't make it work for you...I suggest you just don't bid VTO during a vacation month.

Its worked fine for me for years.

Here's another one.

My vacation is in two bid months, from the 28th of one month through the 12th of the next month. Any restrictions on sliding/expanding in that case?

You can only slide it once. This may be a consideration for you.
