Fellow pilots,
In the past two days, both the House of Representatives and the Senate passed
the Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act of 2007, signaling the end of FAA
Age 60 rule.
I am pleased to inform you that tonight, President George W. Bush signed the Age
60 Legislation into law.
We appreciate President Bush for his quick action on this legislation that is
significant to so many of our pilots.

On another note...after sitting on the sidelines for a long time I've finally posted a few times. Mostly inspired (negatively) by FH. Just a heads up FH, if you thought you were disliked by some in the crewforce for your non-member days (which you expressed to me personally), I think that's a drop in the bucket. If this thing gets signed into law, as the Purple Poster Child for changing the rule you will be loathed by anyone (not me of course
) wearing 3 stripes (ROPEs not included). You certainly have had a knack for making people not like you over the years. Have fun for the next five years! Hope those CA/CA pairings come out soon!

Unfortunately, it's true.......
I am really beginning to hate baby boomers.......they have screwed up just about every good deal out there.......I remember back in '83 when I was in college, hearing about a thing called HERPES......something caused by the carelessness of those just in line ahead of me........took a good thing and made it much too
complicated and messy......just like now.

Remember that you will need those 5 years to make up for all the money you lost by waiting an extra 5 years to upgrade. When you make your money is nearly as important as how much you make. Those of us who understand the time value of money know that this is a bad deal for everyone who is not already a captain. That includes all future pilots.

As much as I love my parents, I think the Baby Boomers have screwed everything up, too. The Greatest Generation gave birth to the MeMeMe Generation. Oh the irony.
If anyone has any doubts about the cluelessness and self-centeredness of the Me-cubed generation, just look at our current crop of Representatives, Senators, and Presidential candidates. Way to go, Granddad.

It is obvious that pilots need to retire from active flying at part 121 airlines at the age of 60. The majority of the people that I've known over the years have been WAY wacky-the vast majority have been unable for an FAA medical, even if they didn't want one.
But several +60 people that I've flown with were REALLY REALLY gone not just in a physical sense, but in a mental situation. I had one guy start to preach to me in my hotel room after we flew to Hong Kong. He had his bible out and everything- he kept quoting his CRAP to me until I finally shut the DOOR on him. I refused to fly with him, but he was one of the people that wanted to be a Captain again!
Listen: I'd work with the guy. But the first time the religion reared its' ugly head...I'd walk out the door. That includes half-way across the Atlantic. This bastard could land the airplane by himself, as far as I was concerned!
I suspect that +60 people are a MESS. A few will test normal, but the vast majority really aren't fit to work at Taco Bell. Why are they considered for flying duty at Fedex and a few others?
