I've heard that isn't the best place to work. Any insight on that?

Crickets I see on this thread... I'm curious about what people have to say about Omni too. Any Omni pilots out there?

Not an Omni pilot, but according to the quicktake, they just furloughed 8 CPTs, 8 FEs, and 3 FOs. :(

One of our pilots went to OMNI about May of last year, he was one of the 3 FOs furloughed and came back to fly Navajos and FO on 1900s. He said that he liked the flying, but the pay was weak compared to here and that the schedule is normally something like 18 days on, but they can hold you up to 4 more days so it turns into 22 days on and 8-ish days off, also a pretty raw deal, but he said having seniority (meaning better pay and not being held 4 extra days, usually) and flying all over the world "would" make up for it at a later time if he goes back.

I would question whether or not that individual was furloughed, or terminated. A class date of May, 2008 would put that person above the cutoff for furlough.

Why is this thread in "Cargo"? Omni doesn't fly freight. (Unfortunately)

He did say "about" May 2008...Does Omni terminate often?

I didnt go to Omni I went to a similar operation but my best friend did. He liked it and They treated him fairly. However it is ACMI and its the usual things, out a long time (2 to 4 weeks), unknown and ever changing schedules, low pay. Par for the course. If I need a job and didnt mind being gone all the time I would work there. You could be better but you could also do much worse.

Is that where you fly the A-340? How is that a similar operation?

IndyAir Guy 02-17-2009 12:26 PM

Nope, I went to Southern Air and Atlas. I fly the 340 for an Asian carrier and am based in North America. Should be easy to figure out.
