Default ATI hiring and training info

I have spent the last three days or so doing not much else besides searching all info on ATI and was hoping someone could fill in the blanks. First off, I'm curious if I am realistically competitive. I have 4700 TT, 4650 PIC, 950 Multi, 750 Turbine (C208), and 550 Actual Instrument. I spoke with a pilot who seems to have a similar flying backround that I have. He was hired and his impression of their training was that it was very difficult and had an unusual high washout rate, himself included. Could anyone confirm this, and if so is this something that may be very challenging. I understand that going from part 135 FedEX Caravan operations to International DC-8 is a significant step. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just had day one of ATI ground school. I applied online Apr 5th, called 2 days later for interview, interviewed 29 Apr. Hired, began training today. They offered a job to all the guys in my interview class, out of 7, 5 took the offer and are here with me. Seems like a pretty laid back place. Matt, the CP said he is going to interview another group around Sept. to fill the void by the next round of guys leaving for 767 training. 2 more 767s arrive in Dec. So hiring will be going strong this fall. Interview process is not bad at all. Sounds like if they bring you up to Dayton for an interview, the job is yours to lose. Your times look pretty good. I will say that the other 6 in my group were 121 guys flying multi eng turbine w/ several thousand hours of ME turb. I was the low guy with 2900 ME turbine, so that may pose a challenge.

Hey, that sounds great 130drvr. Thanks for your input. I did kinda take what the other pilot said with a grain of salt, but hey everyone has their own perspective.

District Pilot,

You really need to get some multi-turbine jet time somewhere. With the other hours you have you would be very competitive. The transition from single turbine to DC-8 will be hard, not impossible, but the DC-8 is a lot of airplane.

ME turbine time is a recognized plus, my whole interview group had 70% or more of their flight time as ME Turbine, and the CP cited that to me as a reason we were all hired the day after the interview. He said "it was a no-brainer."

Correction to ealier comment, they are having anew hire class in a few months. Bring 'em on, only helps my seniority. BTW, ATI just picked up a new South Pacific Military contract, Hawaii and Wake Island out of Travis AFB in SF, CA. VERY NICE! Also have a Bahrain, Diego Garcia, Singapore line, 2-3 in fact. The bid sheet looksvery nice, hiring 30 more or so this year. up to 70 -100 next year, all to backfill the DC-8 ahead of the 767(which will be exclusively int'l).

BAX/Schenker may have something to say about that with the price of jet fuel these days. All of the ATSG "family" will know more Wednesday. Best wishes to all of us involved.

Yeah, I gues time will tell, but we are being told the 767 can't do the job the 8 is doing, but price of gas could change that.

Where do you work?
