UPS Realignment Bid 08-103/Dispacement 08-202 Bid is open

We have a no fault commuting policy. On line, off line, booked or not it doesn't matter. If you can't make it, then it is like the trashy one says. No pay, but no discipline either. You can volunteer to be available (reserve?) the same as coming off of sick leave if you want your money back. Never used it, but it is a good deal. Oh yea, one more thing....this is only for non probationary people.

So, you want zero P-3's. Hmm, that's interesting. Before the current contract you would have had many more P-3's than you have now. How would you go about eliminating almost 20 years of past practice and a FAA directive to get what you want? If you have a valid idea of how to accomplish this, you've got my vote for Negotiating Chairman for the next round of talks. Good luck, it isn't childs play.

You are right that we used to have more p-3's. Before you think that my idea of no scheduled p-3's is unworkable, ask your self how many our purple brethern have in their bid packs. There is always next time.

I never said it was childs play. there were lots of things we got that the company had no intention of giving us. There are things that we used to do for 20 years that we don't do now. All steps in the right directions. there is no FAA directive that calls for the company to publish lines that transport pilots online.

Be careful of comparing us to our purple bretheren. We used that term during the last round of talks and I specifically remember the company was very anxious to give us the FedEx commercial ticket policy (no P-3's) in exchange for FedEx's scope clause. Check your history, in '97 Fred Smith legally sub contracted out numerous routes into MEM from foreign cities to Atlas and others. When UPS is anxious to give you something, you better slow down and double check your facts.
I know about all the sub contracting that goes on over there and I doubt very much that it has anything at all to do with them not printing bid packs that stuff guys into an uncomfortable jumpseat for hours on end.

Who gets to set the terms of the trade? What does no P-3's have to do with scope? We were smart to not bite on that particular trade. Tell you what, I'll give them back their leather coat in exchange for no p-3's. Tying those two things together makes just as much sense as what you suggest.
