for the junior 90% "let them eat cake"

The Obra bridge raised the Top end limit for which our A-plan 2% per year was calculated. In 1997 the Cap was $150,000. which means that No FedEx pilot could make in excess of $75,000/year. Currently our contract OBRA Bridge limit is $260,000 which means a $130,000 /yr retirement. That deal was signed over 10 years ago. So that only benefited "Senior Guys " ? The B plan both in Contract 1 and our current contract is by far more benefit to the Junior half than the senior. If you want to flame the Union, be my guest, but at least get your facts straight. Creating the OBRA Bridge was good for all of us. |

I understand what you are saying, but for DW the impression is now the reality for many guys (myself included). When I see him I am filled with disgust. Guys literally stand at the trip folder cracking on him when he is walking around the crew room. Even if we were to all stipulate that what he did was "the right thing to do" we would also have to agree that it was divisive. In a unity driven organization, we cannot have a leader who is unable to get the group moving in one direction. For the MEC to be unwilling to ask him to step aside for the sake of the group during one of our most challenging times (with at least some of the problem caused by him) seems tone deaf. If I thought he was a great leader, I would still tell him it is time to go. I have even talked to a few of his friends who agree, they just don't want to be the one. |

In other words, "Don't confuse me with facts." Don't take that personal, fdxflyer -- it's just the impression one makes. . |

Tony,
The fact is that our MEC pushed retro to the detriment of the majority of the crew force. Many of us are paying for their move back to the window seat.... Thanks guys! |
When you were hired, were you given a seat, or a seniority number?
. |
When all of us, including the NDs were hired...Your "pilot" seniority number expired at age 60. About 150 of our ND's had expired pilot seniority numbers. They were using Flt. Engineer seniority numbers, literally(most of which didn't match their old PILOT seniority numbers). Our MEC pressed to have those guys given their pilot seniority numbers back. Had they not pressed for retro, they still would not have pilot seniority numbers. Their "regulated age" still would have been age 60. Those age 60, after the change, would have had a regulated age of 65. Just as any UAL, DAL, CAL, etc. pilot that turned age 60 on Dec 12, had a regulated age of 60. A guy born a day later, has a regulated age of 65.
Of course, we all know that. And, it's water under the bridge. It just seems that the tide keeps bringing it back upstream, sometimes. |
