The min would be 48/60, could still build between 48 and 68!

Great rumor, but if you really want to work people up say it will only apply to one aircraft.

 

The way I read it is that they can build to between 68 an 48 to thwart a furlo, but have to get to 48 before they can actually furlo.

 

Section 4 (A)(2)(b) The minimum bid period guarantee shall be reduced to a minimum of 48/60 CH before any pilot is furloughed. At least a full bid period must follow the announcement of this action. This provision shall only be used to prevent or delay a furlough.

Everyone has an opinion on this.

Here is mine--

A bid pack has to be built with 48/60 min BLG. What does that mean?

Some lines have to be 48/60. Highest 13 hrs more. Reserve lines calculated from new average, not off of 68 with buy-up.

Can they do it on the MD11 and Airbus? I don't think they can, right now. All three planes at 48/60 min appears too restrictive. Until, at least, the DC-10 is retired, crewmembers are retrained/checked out and the 757 takes some of the 727's flying.

Timeline? DC10 is being retired at the end of the year. Can't see anything bad happening until some time after that. Perhaps 2 to 3 months after.

 

So what you are saying is 68 isn't really a minimum, anytime they want to schedule less all they have to do is close their eyes and say: We Might Furlough, We Might Furlough, We Might Furlough.

As mere members of the crew force, who cares? As personal as a furlough is for us individually, it most assuredly is not for any company, so there is much gained from calling them liars, scumbags, etc. I suppose it's cathartic the first time around, not so much as time marches on.

Sometimes. Often times it isn't and it's a quick reaction to ongoing events and also sometimes the voices around the big table who get the 'bosses' ear change over time, with the outcome changing just as rapidly. Sometimes all it takes is a good calzone to get the big guy's attention.

Very true, although if that has occurred I'm not sure that we want him blowing the whistle on it, until they've had a chance to try and mitigate anything behind closed doors. Companies on the defensive, often do irrational things.

All in all, an enlightening rumor thread ahead of the next practice bid, but it seems more likely that nothing's doing at this point in time.

 

IW, I don't know if anyone else answered you since they are SOOOOO busy, but BLG stands for Bid Line Guarantee...in other words the minimum hours of pay the co. will pay you....later

Gee, I guess it's a good thing our union isn't run by majority rule. I'm afraid our leader's would be urging the company to furlough, if they went by a poll taken in the privacy of our homes.
