Is that why FDX's stock is tanking over the past year?

Well let's see why our stock is "tanking." $94.71 - (however it is still up over $20 since 2006). Some analyst says that we should make $xx,xxx, xxx, xxx.xx, at $1.75 per share. So we make more than our projected but our profits are slightly lower due to oil/fuel costs & declining economy. We ring in at $1.45 per share. MUCH lower than the analyst thinks we SHOULD have made. So our stock rolls back a few dollars.
But lets look at those pax carriers that are the way to go....
May 07 / Apr 08
FDX 107.29 / 94.71 12% drop
DAL - 20.72 / 9.61
UAL - 33.26 / 21.74
NWA - 25.16 / 10.01
CAL - 38.21 / 12.74
SWA - 14.54 / 12.82 - 14% drop
UPS 68.21 / 71.56 - up 6%

So I guess UPS is the only one not tanking in this industry...

I also find it quite funny that you believe that pax carriers don't fly at odd hours. This morning I heard Spirit, JB, Delta, and a few regionals at 3AM.

I've been called a lot of things in my life, but never a backwoods Tennessee hillbilly. What do I have to do to qualify? frozenboxhauler and I are nothing but rusted slugs up here in the Pacific Northwest.

Some on here know I was hired by JB back in 2001, and my class date was a week prior to my FDX date. Both companies were sliding classes around and making a lot of post 9/11 changes, so I wasn't really sure WHO I would be working for or WHEN I might actually get a class date. (side note: God bless the Florida Air National Guard.)

I was very tempted by jB because of the once in a lifetime chance to be very close to the top of a company in seniority. However, when both companies eventually gave me a class date, I made the conseravative call and went to FDX. Part of the rationale wasn't just the stability factor, but the trips. Looking at a JB bid pack (they do PBS), the BEST trips I saw that fit a commuters life were the Red-eyes from JFK to SEA, SLC, DEN, and other west coast spots. To make commuting work and work around the 30/7 rules, going out west in the middle of the night was about as efficient as I could get. (At this time, FLL wasn't yet a hub...) So--as Koz mentioned...when I was out flying around the system I heard a LOT of Jetblue callsigns. On a side note, the 767ER out of JFK is the junior seat in the Delta fleet, and again those guys spend a good bit of time on the wrong side of the clock going to Europe.

In short...pick you poison. Until you get senior enough...you run the odds of doing some middle of the night ops. I just chose to do it at a company built around it...

I just want to make it publically known, after reading these message boards for over a year, that I would be happy to work at either FedEx or UPS. I have no problems with FedEx's "attitude", and would happily not fly DP's or do anything else controversial. Just wanted to make my position clear. Thank you for your support.

FedEx pilots are arrogant.
UPS pilots are very polite.

FedEx stock is down.
UPS's stock is UP.

Any connection? You can't compare airlines to cargo carriers. Compare cargo carriers to cargo carriers. I thought boxes always flew, no matter what? Well I guess they do on UPS.

Well I used those numbers only b/c on DAL I could only go back to 2007. But since the pilots attitude/arrogance equates to higher stock prices lets look at these numbers.
Sept 2003 Apr 2008
FDX 64.23 94.34 49% gain
UPS 57.08 71.33 25% gain

Wow I must be really cool, nice, polite, and great stock wizard because the stock has gone up a lot since I've been here. BURN!!!
