ARE YOU STILL TALKING!!!!!

What kind of nut are you. That is about the dumbest thing you have said yet, and frankly that is getting hard to top, but I'll try. Here we go.

I got an idea.

Why don't we make FO's interns and not pay them at all. We can charge them $80,000 to get an eduaction then charge them $675 a month for the next 20 years to pay it back.

And since they are not employees we could work them 200 hours a month upgrade them in 6 weeks, give them 4 hour reduced rest periods and 2 days off per bid.

We'll pay Capt's $15.00 an hour and as a bonus they could log it all as instructor time. Maybe even go under the hood and let the intern bank some PIC.

This will be comforting to discover when they auger in a 40 million dollar aircraft and shatter 50 families lives. It certainly will boost ticket sales when we have to add the disclaimer. "Ride at your own risk"

For god sake SkyHigh if you cannot offer something useful, stop adding to the problem.

Or is this Jonathan Orstein I am addressing?

I think what APC should so is:

1) Create a forum, ONLY for SkyHigh, and everyone else. Pretty much give SkyHigh his own peice of APC to reply to peoples threads by creating news ones on his own and then REPLYING.
2) With SkyHigh enjoying his own peice of online real estate, shut him off from the other forums. Problem Solved. All he wants is attention, give it to him, with his own forum, named after him.

That way, we keep SkyHigh from being a total dumbass, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, outside of his fenced in area.

Default You guys

If I only had the time. Both of you are pilot wannabes and yet you feel obligated to call me nuts?

The point of my quote is that the regionals are not supposed to be a career. Management doesn't want you to say. They are trying to point that out by making life as unbearable as possible. Get in move up and move on should be everyones goal. Life at the regional level will keep getting worse over time. Why drag out your misery? Pick a company that will get you the PIC as fast as possible and move on.

Or perhaps you guys could hire on to Eagle and retire as a grey haired FO?

I am not an attention hog. My mission is to try and save guys like you from yourselves. Seems like in your case it is a lost cause. I just hope to be around for an "I told you so".

If your quoting from another thread, at least provide a link so everyone can see the context. You may not agree with Skyhigh's posts which is fine, but I'd ask everyone to put some thought into your counter-point without lowering yourself to name calling.

All the best -

I am a 37 year old commercialpilot with about 500 hours. I will probably be 40 before I get on with regional. So, I will probably make a caeer at a regional. What do you mean regionals are notment to be carees. They have to have Chief Pilots and check Airmen like evryone els dont they? I know plenty of people thathave been with Regionals for 20 years.

Oh don't worry SkyHigh. . . I don't think you're nuts, moreover, I never called you nuts.

I just think you should retreat back to whatever hole you find yourself in and enjoy the rest of your life, rather then spend hours on this (and any other) online professional flying message board. Spend time with your grandkids, kids, etc, go fishing, whatever the hell you do. . . do that instead of wasting your time here.

I appreciate your input, always have, so no, you're not nuts. . . but I, like many others, are getting tired of reading your posts. There's a right way to provide insight, you're doing it the wrong way.

What guys like you don't understand it that this is where I am needed most. The world is full of Flying Magazine and AOPA propaganda. Aviation Universities and fancy flight schools are leading you lambs to slaughter. The odds of you ever being able to repay a KeyBank loan on a pilots salary are wildly slim. Most never make it very far and fade away with a $800 monthy payment as a reminder of a poor choice.

There is a hiring boom in the regionals right now. Much of it is due to growth. Some lose pilots to other companies but a large amount resign and disappear. The have reached the end of the line and realize that it is no fun to be poor, gone all the time and to have little hope for a better life.

I understand that many of the current generation are prepared to be masochists. It is a romantic idea and guys like me are supposed to be greedy money hogs. Someday you might wish to have more. You will realize that to have a home and family it costs money. You might also understand that enjoying family events though faxes and video tape is hollow and hurts even more. There is a price to be paid to fly and it is much higher than most understand until it is way too late.

Writing to you guys is all I have left of a 20 year effort. It is a satisfying hobby. The rest of my former life as a pilot is gone now. Just today I think I sold my plane. It was the last remnant of my dream. I know that I rain on your parade but like it or not you guys need me.

SkyHigh

I will turn 40 later this summer. Four sons 6 months thru 10. No grand kids.

The regionals don't count as a real career goal since most likely you will never earn enough to justify the cost of your training and wasted years as a CFI and FO. I suppose if you started at 22 years old and became sidetracked into a regional career it would be more understandable. To choose it as a 40 + year old is almost financial suicide. If you do get hired at a regional someday after 6 months the reality sinks in and you will understand what I mean.

See SkyHigh. . . this is what you don't understand.

Some of us here, don't have to rely 100% on a KeyBank loan. We have worked for our money to use on our training, and some of us actually have enough money saved up to spend it on flight training AND a college degree.

So back the hell up with your generalizations when it comes to every young twenty year old on these forums. You're rash generalization that each of us will have to take out 100k in loans just for training, etc is way in left field.

I acknowledge your attempt to get the more naive ones of us to understand, job well done. . . now get over it.
