Sorry Skyhigh, but I’m a little confused. In another post I read, you said that if Alaska Airlines were to give you a call, you would be there in a heart beat. How can you, on one hand denigrate the job of being a professional pilot and encourage all on this forum to give up on the dream and select another career, but on the other hand say that you would jump back into the game in a heart beat?? Don’t you find that to be a little hypocritical?? Please explain.

I have already wasted my education, youth and burned my cash on training expenses. It is too late for me. If Alaska Airlines were to offer me a class date I would take it to satisfy a residual dream from childhood. However the reality is that it probably wouldn't be that great. Though I have always dreamed of having one of those corny pictures taken while in uniform and once it was secure on the wall I would most likely quit.

It sure is...But imagine student loan repayments for that 100K+ spent on flight training - thats the real tragedy in aviation. IMHO.

Not half as sad as if you're the one suckered into paying for it like that. Live and learn... for most of us I hope.

Which is my point. Some of us are destined to learn everything the hard way. SkyHigh just doesn't understand that.

Yeah, but you have to appreciate the wise old man that we never listen to.

I understand that. The world reinvents itself with every new generation. Some are unreachable and some are on the fence. Perhaps I can tip a few.

Sky,

Well I, for one, hope you DO get that call from Alaska Airlines, fly 'til age 60, enjoy every minute, and recalculate that nothing was wasted, just invested.
