Report: FedEx in talks for DHL purchase
Memphis Business Journal

FedEx Corp. is attempting to buy the U.S. express division of rival DHL from its parent Deutsche Post World Net, according to a Reuters story that cites German newspaper Financial Times Deutschland.
The newspaper said negotiations are underway and the firm wants to sell the DHL division by May at the latest. However, a Deutsche Post spokesman called the news speculation and wouldn't comment to the paper.
Howard Clabo, a spokesman for Memphis-based FedEx (NYSE: FDX), said the company does "not comment on rumors or speculation."
According to the Reuters story, Deutsche Post chief financial officer John Allan told another German newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, that his company wanted to decrease its DHL business in the U.S., but did not want to sell it completely. He told that paper selling the domestic American business was "very, very unlikely."
The stories are slated to appear in both papers' Friday editions, according to Reuters.
Trade journal Air Cargo World Online reported Deutsche Post World Net, the parent company of express services and logistics services provider DHL, said Wednesday it will take an $874 million write down of the value of its struggling DHL Express business in the Americas.

Looks to me like their divorce arrangement was for her to pay child support whenever the kid was with the father - at least that's the way I understand it...

Apparently she did not pay any money while the child was being taken care of the father and if so I guess she's a sleaze ball as well...

Ned and Seinfeld,

Do you guys kick your cat when it scratches the sofa too?

Wait a minute - you probably have a "Cat: The other white meat" bumper sticker on your car.

Lighten up and give the Astar guys some slack. You still have your jobs.

Gonna follow these fine people's advice in this forum and ignore you.

LOL.....You actually fly a plane....Frightening...
Tony - are you really the UPS engineer who resigned after joining the DHL picket line?

Personally, I think you're someone using his name as a screen name but if it is you - I must say I simply don't understand your actions. If it's really social actions that you were revolting against then why didn’t you resign years ago when we started flying Wal-Mart stuff out of China? Wouldn't you say that affects even more people than the DHL/UPS deal? I'm confused...

With NO disrespect to the Astar pilots I wonder what ALPA would have done if FedEx got the contract? ALPA's past behavior would indicate they would have thrown the Astar guys to the curb rather than p*** off the much larger FedEx group who have played musical unions over the last few years. I bet ALPA was relieved when we got the contract rather than FedEx.
