FDX: How many pilots are going past 60
#11
If you look at our over 60 demographics there are many of them in blocks other than 1, 2, or 3, and many have less than 20, much less 25 years of service.
I was against age 60 for business reasons. Its bad for my FedEx seat progression, and it hurt my interview prep business when airlines didn't have to hire as many folks. I've said it before--it probably cost me as much if not more money than many of the regular posters here...
But...the fact is many of the folks NOT retiring are not guys going beyond 25 years of service. I'm grateful to every single pilot who retires, but I'm not going to say a 60 year old with 16 years of service is "greedy" if he stays on longer. Its a personal choice now, and its the law.
Getting bitter just hurts you...it won't change anyone's mind about when they want to retire and it won't make coming to work any more fun. With reduced BLGs, and fewer upgrades in sight, perhaps its time to pursue that master's degree, side job, or other hobby you wanted to try.

I'm not near 60, didn't like the way 65 was implemented, but just a word of caution to the keyboard commandos.
Under the rule of Federal law, what you are saying here is quite similar to a racial slur. Away from the keyboard and in the cockpit it might not be so funny and may result in actions that you won't be laughing about very long.
Nomex on.

Like any of the over 60 guys can operate a computer, much less get a subtle hint. YGTBSM another pilot/lawyer, do you have any stock tips?
