Default FDX Safety Reports (WorldGuy..DON"T READ!)

A little venting here... WHY do our guys find the need to write a novel on their FSRs? I read too many that are unnecessary, usually self-incriminating, and downright stupid!? Reminds me of politicians that just like to hear themselves speak. What happened to the "don't build them a clock" theory? Ok, rant off. And yes, I will slow down on the coffee.

The more you say, the more likely you will say something stupid or incriminating.

Way too many FSRs that are not required by FOM. Why draw attention to yourself????

"The F/O and RFO did an outstanding job!"

Just once - I'd like to read: "The F/O was 6 miles behind the aircraft for the whole event, and the RFO tripped in his feety pajamas on the way up front and cried like a little girl...."

My safety reports always end with, "And the Captain did a great job!"

The Flight Safety Department always replies back that either:
A. After looking at all the available charts, pubs and regulations for several weeks in the office it is plainly clear or obvious to us. So why did you not catch it in the 1 to 5 minutes you had at 05:00? We see no reason to change any procedure, publication etc.
B. Thank you for bringing this event to the attention of Flight Safety. This FSR will be entered into the Flight Safety database for statistical and trend analysis.
What a waste of time.

A good Navy pilot would never put himself on report, if he does ... he screwed up twice

I'm going to training in October, and if I can un-F my non-glass flyin' self enough to get through the sim phase I'll be asking Santa for those jammies in December...

Like I told a F/O buddy that was upgrading to Capt, "you do not have to document your stupidity" !
