Rumor: UPS canceling 767 order?

IMO: Of course they are on the "chopping" block. Everything is ALWAYS on the chopping block. The 767's were on the chopping block the day the deal was inked. This is UPS and multiple scenarios always rolling around their corporate ether. Remember the A300 order slashed, mixed with the A380 order? Everything that is a cost center is always being evaluated to cut costs. Doesn't mean this scenario has any real legs other than it is used in planning scenarios.

The good news is: we'll start hiring like gangbusters as soon as all the diplacees get their paid domicile moves and then finishing training!

Yeah, well there's both bad news and good news: As soon as the furloughs are announced later this week, the excess 767s on order will be cancelled.

It's funny I have not received a JA call on the 747-400 in months, the day the new trip trading system is turned on and 2 days of JA calls . When the opentime whor*s are not allowed to spread their legs the operation needs more crews! HMMM!
I sent an email to the IPA because I would bet that night every seat and aicraft had JA calls because the open time whor*s were locked up for a day.
That statistical data is very valuable to the IPA should UPS decide the need to furlough. It is the only reason UPS would have responded so quickly to the IPA to shut down the new trip trading system.
I am biased since I am at the bottom and would be furloughed first, but also 10 years of former airline experience and never picked up a trip on my day off EVER and NEVER will!
P.S. Not bragging just self disclosing.

OT request must be submitted at least 48 hours (and up to 71:59 hours due to 8 AM closing time) prior to trip. Your logic doesn't agree with this requirement. Additionally, the new trip trading system began 0800, 8 Sep, and was terminated later that day. OT requests did not close until the next morning. And finally <g>, the myth of OT pickup affecting anything other than reserve utilization and crew scheduling workload is just that, a myth.

To tag onto Waborito and Roberto since their posts are certainly conflicting, here's something to think about.
It is known in ANC that 2 flights cancelled recently for lack of crews ... but have they actually figured out why ?
Could it be that both of you are right in a way ...
Flying on the 400 should be increasing as the final airframes arrive. More crews are being trained. More flying, more crews, no problem.
WRONG, where do those crews actually live ? How many are available to pick-up OT in ANC ? How many want to commute for it ?
And since training and checkrides have been conducted in SDF, DEN and SJC ... there hasn't been as many managers in ANC to tag for last minute MEF.
But I would like to know this Roberto ... is it COMPLETELY out of the question for someone to see a trip in open time leaving tomorrow afternoon and call in or request it ?
Because I thought I saw some trips in OT back when I was on reserve and watching such things ... that did not get awarded to another reserve, and I ultimately found that the trip was being flown under the PO code ...
Do you think that is completely unlikely ? Are ALL of our OT PO done outside of the 48 hour window ?
I really don't know ...
