Simple FDX Vacation Ques
#11
I apologize in advance for the thread drift, but I have two contractual type questions that I have tried to answer by reading the contract and by doing a search through the cargo forum here. No luck, so here goes.
1. If you are PDO bumped off a MUV trip will you get credit for the hours in your vacation bank?
2. If you do a mutual trip trade with somebody can you then drop the trips you traded for? Would the answer change if you did a mutual PDO bump?
It is tough to find answers to these types of questions, just wondering if anybody has had either of these situations happen to them.
Thanks again and sorry to bogart your thread pig.

Mutual Swap: If you perform a mutal swap, the trips swapped into can be dropped.
Mutual PDO Bump: This is similar to picking up an Airport Standby....it is yours to keep. It cannot be dropped.
Not sure about the PDO for vacation.

Haven't been in that situation, but, a trip picked up by PDO bump should be droppable. 25.L.9.a states that the PDO bumper has trip guarantee and (essentially) the only trips you can't drop are those for which you don't hold guarantee.
on the MUV, must have been a mgt bump since a typical line swine kind of pilot can only bump a trip you hold guarantee for (25.L.10.a.i).
I dimly recall one guy getting bumped on a MUS trip; (I know-tried to explain why he was an idiot but I digress) so, got bumped and wound up with zippo and stuck in Mempho buying a hotel room....wasn't happy about it.

Hmmm......let's review the aforementioned statement for accuracy.
PDO Bumper = person bumping another pilot for the trip
PDO Bumper = does NOT maintain trip guarantee
PDO Bumper = paid Per Diem Only for trip
PDO Bumpee = person bumped off of trip by another pilot
PDO Bumpee = maintains trip guarantee
PDO Bumpee = loses the Per Diem for trip
PDO Bumpee = celebrating the fact the he is paid for not working a trip
If a mutual PDO Bump is to occur, then each PDO Bumper only attains the Per Diem Only for the "new" trips; each pilot retains the trip guarantee for the original pairings. As such, cannot drop/trade the "new" trip.
Now, if we only had the actual wording from the contract, things would be much more clearer.

it's 100% accurate, I haven't been in that situation. (contract ref off by 1 number though, 25.L.9.a talking about a trip pickup, not a PDO bump)
however,
25.L.10.b.v states that if you call in sick for the PDO trip, the CH are removed from your sickbank.....and, you have to hold some form of trip guarantee for that to occur.
more importantly, the next sentence points out that you have no pay guarantee for subsequent assignments if you elect to PDO bump someone. eg, PDO bump a Monday DH trip since you're on the flight anyways for the J/S to work.....plane breaks and you are SOL.

If you hold a trip under MUS, MUV, MUD and are removed from the trip prior to blockout you do not earn any CH for that trip.
If you hold a trip under PDO and are sick, the trip guarantee is removed from your sick leave account.
I have never tried to drop or trade a PDO bump, has anyone else?

Got one for you...
Fly MUS (Don't ask why, someone just does).
The trip is "modified" and "extended" to include overages. Does the overage go into the sick bank.
The answer is NO.
It goes into the disability account.
When you start modifying/changing any TRP or MUV/MUS or PDO everything gets a little dicey.
As for your original question, I haven't tried to trip trade a PDO bump or execute a mutual PDO bump but recently flew with someone who did execute a mutual PDO bump and wanted to trip trade the new trip. The trip trade was denied.
