Housing

(2) If no housing is available, or if the commuting officer chooses to secure his own housing, an allowance up to, but not to exceed, eighteen hundred dollars ($1,800) per month will be provided. The commuting officer may opt for a FDX MEC provided hotel room in lieu of other housing.
f. Transportation
(1) The MEC Chairman and the other officers will have first consideration for use of any leased or owned Association vehicles. This does not mean that the MEC Chairman or other officers will have a special vehicle for his/her use.
I thought you said in a previous post that the officers got a better housing deal than the LOA? I don't see where 1800=2700.

As for the car, it appears that the part that you provided says that they don't get a special vehicle.

I guess that extra 20-30 hours a month doesn't factor into your good deal definition?

Yeah right!! No vision, I've just seen MEC politics work it's hand once or twice before and even I can pick out a trend in actions. I figured there were at least 2 'viable' candidates on the table if the MEC had enough for a recall but wasn't pushing it, I wouldn't have guessed the names though. I would have guessed DM was one of them which I could see causing some gridlock. That's why you play the game though, huh?

Notice how he took personal responsibility for destroying our unity? Me neither. And make no mistake, DW is indeed, a politician.

Where is he "reading" this?

Hmmm ---- interesting verb choice.

What are his primary information sources?

When you run things like a dictator, you don't need to quote sources or explain your actions. The whole message left a bad taste in my mouth except the part about apathy. I am definitely headed that way. What difference does it make who I vote for or what I volunteer for if Dave just bulldozes to get his way?

So you think that the PIC Authority issue was a poor one to fight? You don't think that our Captains should have control of their cockpits as FARs state? Besides the rest of your post, this is the most idiotic part of your whole diatribe. If you don't want control of your cockpit, that is your choice. But I would think that almost every other pilot here would choose otherwise.

No, I think he LOST that battle MD Abuser. Captain's authority is under attack everyday at FedEx and our MEC Chairman picked, and LOST the battle. Three people lost their jobs and the Union was threatened with an Illegal Job action law suit. If I am wrong, will our Union please produce the mediation results of how our Captains got their jobs back!

As for car allowance question, I still hold it is something the union should of addressed in the Hong Kong / Paris LOA. Our union leadership took care of themselves when they are in Memphis. Why did they leave our pilots without options overseas?

38105 Zip Code (Memphis, Tennessee) Detailed Profile - residents and real estate info

Base Currency: US Dollar, USD on Wednesday, November 5, 2008
$1800 US Dollars = 13951.44 Hong Kong Dollars

Hong Kong, the world's most expensive city for rental accommodation according to new ECA International survey

with an apartment in a popular expatriate area costing approximately US$8,592 per month on average,

So, MD Abuser, your $2700 is about $5892 dollars short of the Cost of Living adjustment in Hong Kong while $1800 is IN LINE with Cost of Living in Memphis. Therefore, the MEC Chairman SEEMS to understand the concept when it comes to HIS pocket book, but not when it comes to his MEMBERSHIP. Where is the COLA adjustment for Hong Kong, Paris, or even ANC?

MD Abuser, thanks for your input. I am glad I was able to further discuss my complaints with our quasi-elected Union dictator.

Sorry, didn't see your exclusivity rights on this thread. I though we were comparing Union officer compensation living in MEM to line bubba compensation starving in HGK.
