Quote: "But Fred would replace all 144,000 Fed Ex employees with Chinese prison labor if he could"
”Hog” absolutely positively deserves the stupid quote of the day award.
Someone can be an intelligent, caring individual who is a great pilot and then post this? His other analogy of a coal miner strikes a chord. Every day these hard working guys go down into the dark and dusty mines, some with the intelligence level of “Hog”. “Hog”, I hope that this direction you are giving this forum on FedEx Corporation was only a temporary lapse of judgment and not the true “Hog”.
Thanks, Fedex 999 for the positive comment. Your right, the picture should be viewed in this tone.
Tony, on second thought, keep Fred’s’ picture to show him as a tough negotiator when dealing with Airbus.
What do you think of my post on the A380F vs. the 747-8F?

missed point,misread
Cub, you missed the point. Coal mine OWNERS don't "deserve every penny they get" from labor and Fred doesn't either. Please reread my poorly written post. I would never have a bad word to say about a miner, just the OWNERS. You see, I don't run down unions. I know they are the only hope a working man has for a voice in their job conditions. And if you respect miners, you should do some historical research and find out what conditions they worked in before they had a union.

Cub Pilot,
I completely disagree with your position and disagree with your perception of the situation. Your writing suggests you perceive our negotiations as a very emotional and personal issue; it is not. It's just business.
The only way we can achieve the contract we deserve is to create economic conditions that make settling a contract less costly than not. It's just that simple.
One of management's (any management team, not just FedEx) tools to keep employee groups at a disadvantage is to publish misleading communications and spread rumors through the rank and file. Management takes advantage of those who agree with, and identify themselves with management's perspective. Frankly, they use people who for whatever reason are unwilling to study for themselves, both sides of the situation and who forget or ignore history.
I believe anyone who accurately reviews the history between management and our pilots (indeed, all FedEx employees) cannot help but see how management is following an established playbook on how to manipulate employee groups for the purpose of keeping employee costs as low as humanly possible. It is all the same stuff I learned as a young manager (not in aviation) in my previous life.
I really believe your perspective is held by a very small minority. I think you are selling yourself short by not really looking at the history of this management's method of negotiating with its employees because your writing paints the picture for me at least, as being a tool that management is manipulating.

Well said. Fred Smith does not hate us, but don't think he would not replace us for the lowest bidder if he could. It's just business

Tony,
Are you a person that when you make a promise, I can trust you?
Differences aside, you failed to deliver!
