Default FDX - Vacation Extension for Reserve Line

Ok, I bid a reserve line for the first time during my vacation month (February) and have some questions on extention. I searched the forum before posting, but didn't find the answer, so here goes:

I've got 8 days of vaction from 2-9 Feb. In that block, I have 5 R-days scheduled (2-6 Feb). With February's R-day value of 4:04, I can extend my vacation 5 days for a total of 13 days (in which case, it would touch the first four R-days of the next block). The original reserve line consists of 15 R-days, so I only owe them 2 days. I plan to wipe out everything except for the last two R-days. So here are my questions:

1. Do I need to extend my vacation 5 days to get the 13 days? Seems like I would have to.
2. If I don't waive the 48 hour buffer, would the last two days get dropped, making me eligible for View/Add or would those two days just get moved elsewhere in the month?

If it matters, here are my R-days scheduled: 2-6 and 11-20. I need the original footprint of 2-9 Feb off, so I do not intend to slide. Thanks for any help before 0700 CST tomorrow.

I've bid Reserve during vacation months MANY times. Here's the deal. THEY WILL REBUILD YOUR ENTIRE RESERVE LINE after giving you the option (in VIPS) to expand your days. In your case (13 days off, you'll owe them 2 R days) ... I've had good luck asking for the specific days I wanted to be on Reserve.

Any questions? Call your Futures Scheduler ... they're the real experts on this subject.

Hope this helps ... Mark

1. Yes

2. Days knocked out by the 48 hour buffer will be rescheduled by the company sometime during the month outside the vacation footprint. you can put in preferences for where you'd like those days to be moved somewhere in the Bid Period Processing page under the Vacation section, Reserve Line Reconstruction. If you like the days where they are, you need to waive the buffer.

Don't forget to put the R-days that you stand after the vacation to take advantage of the leveling.

Thanks for the quick responses. I was told before that reserve lines could be rebuilt however the schedulers wanted, outside the vacation footprint. But some recent discussions in the cockpit gave me confidence that they would honor my requested days. I also had been told about the leveling, thanks. I'm planning to waive the 48 hour buffer and just ask to preserve the last two original days. We'll see if it works. Thanks again!
