i'm an alumni from their DC3,piston Convair era (mid to late 90's),a good by the book operation, which flies a mixed fleet of 727-100fs,Cv580s,cv5800s,and Falcon 20s. Maintenance is superb, great people, i think they were trying to hire into the Falcon recently ,but only the Falcon.

I am also an alumni and good company to work for. also flew there in the Dc 3 days.. Great company to build time... Is this Tony??

i121ADX 01-20-2009 03:27 AM

IFL currently has CV5800, CV580, B721, DA20 (3 With TFE's 3 with CF7's).

Moving out of on demand and into scheduled cargo service. Very nice operation. Part 121 Cert operates flights under Gulf and Carribean Cargo (TSU) and Part 135 Cert opeates flights under IFL Group (IFL).

Falcons based out of PTK.
Convair's based out of PIL and PTK....and I'm not sure if the still keep a CV in Concord, NC or not.

That's all I got.

sgtfly 01-20-2009 05:24 PM

TwinTurboPilot 01-21-2009 03:52 PM

The big question is: are they hiring?

I know they where looking for a Falcon F/O for Thief River Falls MN. But it was kinda a lousy set up from what I heard since you end up spending all your days off in MSP away from base. Don't know why they don't just make MSP the base so you can be home on your days off.

WMUPilot 01-23-2009 04:01 PM

hiring...

well.. they are just finishing up a falcon ground school right now. So, bases at SDF, TVF, and PTK should be full. Convair bases are a little lean right now, and there is no indication of hiring or not hiring for that matter, but it never hurts to put in a resume!

sgtfly 01-24-2009 05:20 AM

Thanks for the response so far. Can any current pilot comment on the work atmosphere good bad indifferent

TwinTurbo, might be a Falcon Driver up in TVF... maybe :D So he could give you a rough idea of the outpost lifestyle.

I am a convair driver in PTK and will let you know that the home base is full of good people. Atmosphere is good because you're on call and never have to go in to the office except to update books or go on a trip. Getting days off never seems to be a problem, as long as you put in for it in advance. You can drop a PM to me as well and I'll tell ya anything extra you might want to know.

TwinTurboPilot 01-25-2009 04:30 PM

Im a FA20 pilot but def not outta TVF, I have no base so I have a lets say Untypical schedule. I would post the info you want to know here but our company keeps that info on the DL for some reason, so I will continue to respect that. In addition to that it also varies. Some people (like myself) love the place others dont. I left a prety good regional (if you could call any regional airline good) to come here, at a time when they had guys running to the regionals left and right. I think its one of the best descisions ive made so far. The company is growing and expanding at a time when everyone else is furloughing and shutting down, so that should tell you alot right there

Right on...
I might be in MIA soon... lots of rumors going on out there for what's going to happen with the convair boys and girl.

i121ADX 01-27-2009 03:15 AM

Didn't you guys pickup all of Air Tahoma's old stuff?

TwinTurboPilot 01-27-2009 11:10 AM

I believe we are doing a route or two, but nothing else has been confirmed, so i dont want to spread any rumors.

Mia-Guatemala-Honduras-Mia

PappyVanWinkle 02-19-2009 07:17 AM

Do you guys know where to send a resume? Is it just to the email address on the website or is it a direct link from a specific job posting? Thanks in advance......

spruce21 04-20-2010 06:35 PM

Anybody have any up to date information on IFL Group? Pay for FO falcon pilots, average flight time per month, upgrades?

TwinTurboPilot 04-21-2010 08:55 AM

Pay-better than any regional
Flight time-depends anywhere from 20-80+ hours a month
Upgrades-If you have to ask your not ready

ShadyMilkman 12-01-2012 05:54 PM

Anything new/exciting at IFL?

How's the QOL, morale, and pay these days?

Are the bases and nature of the work still basically the same as they were at the beginning of this thread in 09?

ArcherDvr 01-26-2013 03:57 PM

They just posted on the orange website for Convair 580 drivers.

satpak77 01-26-2013 04:26 PM

now-revived thread was from 2010

threeighteen 04-09-2014 08:55 PM

Is there a recognized seniority list to bid for vacancies between bases and equipment? Or seat locks? Just wondering how all that works?

aviatorhi 04-10-2014 03:35 AM

From what I know you live in Pontiac, Michigan and have a 20-30 minute callout. Apart from which seat you're in seniority isn't of much importance as far as I can tell, as it shouldn't be in a small cargo operation.

I've spoken to them in the past and for me the biggest downside, however, is they don't offer rotational type scheduling.

They have been hiring for the 580 recently. Bases all over- PTK, MIA, BRO, ELP, PHX, SJU, BQN. Hired for BRO PTK SJU and MIA. They don't have seat lock but if you are hired for the CV580 or Falcon then that's what you stay in typically. As far as the MFE base, that's Falcon and I don't know too much about that side.

The 580 and 72's are 121 and in CASS. They do not have many recip agreements though. Lack of route structure I believe is the problem.

They require for the 580 and 727 the mins for 121 - 1500TT and must have a multi engine ATP in hand.

aviatorhi 04-10-2014 09:25 AM

I think my info pertains mainly to the 727 flying then.

laker7745 07-16-2014 06:41 PM

[QUOTE=aviatorhi;1620641]From what I know you live in Pontiac, Michigan and have a 20-30 minute callout.QUOTE]

It is in Waterford, Michigan, Pontiac, Michigan is a ghetto, however, both the company(on the field) and the airport, are in Waterford, it is a nice area to live and there are neighborhoods that are right next to the airport. As far as the call out goes, 20-30 minutes is an easy time to make, I can say though expect long nights, they don't usually do overnight stays and you could go PTK-BRO-MIO-STL-PTK all within 18 hours, most of their 72's are based out of PTK, which is their main hub, if you are on the Convair's or 72's you will start out as an FE and work up from there, part of the reason I didn't apply despite it being minutes from my home is many guys I know who fly for them say they wish they had stayed "real pilots"..

aviatorhi 07-18-2014 09:06 PM

About two months ago they hired direct CAs and FOs on the 727. I was tempted but ended up passing, mainly due to scheduling. I get cranky if I don't get blocks of 10-20 days off.

727C47 07-19-2014 12:02 AM

I'm an IFL alumni , '92-'99, back when it was a DC3 and piston Convair outfit, it was always a good place, with its boys and girls now scattered among the ranks of Delta, American, FedEx and SWA , it's funny how when we get together it's stories about Spiller, Zerbe, and the rest of our beloved motley tribe that we all want to share. I'm proud of this company and the fact that it still thrives.

Sounds like they may have totaled or come close to a 727. It's in heavy Mx in Hamilton right now to see if it's salvageable. Tried to leave with the air stairs still in place. Tore up the left fuselage and wing pretty bad.
