It's certainly not the best way to treat people. But the job here is worth it.
Not worried. I am fortunate to have a secure job flying and serving the country. I never got called, never interviewed, but it will happen...one day.

Just curious if HR did something that prompted this, like officially stop hiring for a specific amount of time which required a program shutdown or purge.

This same thing happened about a year and half ago or so (when they were still hiring). I want to say it was the exact same message and it even went to guys who had class dates but had not started yet. It turned out that it was some computer glitch or something and the email should have never gone out. Hopefully its the same thing again...

I thought they purged the apps every year, didn't they do this before?

The "Flight Officer" job you have inquired about has been filled. You may go to http://www.upsjobs.com and check for other opportunities with ups.
Folks, I hope I don't give you any false hopes here but I think all of you are still in the pool.

Two years ago a friend of mine got a similar email so I called one of the HR reps. I was told that our application system is purged at the end of the year and since the position my friend had applied for was purged as well, he got the email telling him the position had been filled… Yet 5 months later he was called for a class date…

We all know it probably will take much longer this time around but I think you’re all in the pool…

Spoke with HR today. They have received quite a few calls regarding the letter. We are still in the pool, it is just the annual purge. They are no longer accepting updates via fax (like updated resumes) and when things resume, we will have to update electronically, they are going paperless. I did not ask whether we would have to re-interview, I'm just pretty much preparing myself that it is likely that's what we will have to do.

SK - thanks for the info. I have been swimming for awhile now, since summer '07 and I did not receive the infamous email. I just checked the UPS website and my app. is still 'active'. I sent a fax update a few months back.

Any other poolies not get the email?

Anyone else have any insight/info.?

Thanks,
JP
