So, just like I predicted, when this seat shuffle is over, the most junior will be sitting in the most junior seat, DC-8 FE. This should be fun. At least the company is going to have all the pieces in place when they send out the "F" Notice!

There will still be old guys in the FE position. About 40-some over 65 I think (after the 747 guys get trained, minus retirements), plus those who do not choose to upgrade.

Probably good time to start reviewing the kind of trips they got on the DC-8..who has a bid packet I can borrow?
No wonder they were so adamant about having an FE written to interview! It all makes sense now. |
146 fe's, Wow that's a 2 to 1 ratio i think when you're over 60 the company requires 2 fe's. 1 to run the panel and the other to keep him awake.

Don't the FE's off the panel have to be able to hold a vacancy with their seniority? (and some will, but some wont) Someone please explain to the new guy how the bottom 100 will end up on the panel. I dont see it, I see an increase of 10 window seats, which os a good thing right?

Greed. And I am not talking about UPS. Young guys with young families are going to be placed through the ringer so the NDs can pay off their 2d vacation homes and 3rd wives. Still don't think UPS will furlough but am worried nonetheless being a junior guy.
The NDs bidding FO baffle me. They can retire and make 60k plus B plan and investment distibutions. They are effectively undercutting the rest of us by working for 50% pay. The sad thing is they could not care less about hiw their actions effect others. |

All of the Fo and Capt upgrades will be filled by the Near Dead over 60 FEs from the -8. Those FOs displaced from their seats will have to choose between going to ANC or the panel. Thus a reshuffling of where the junior pilots are. |

Realignment Vacancy Bid 09-101
CPT vacancies – 46 (33 SDF domiciled) FO vacancies – 57 (55 SDF domiciled) No bypass if under age 65 at effective date, thus bypass is virtually non-existent. FO over-60 bidders – 43 FE over-60 bidders – 40 Probably all CPT vacancies will go to senior over-60 bidders. Some other CPT’s may choose to transition, and unless in DC8 or ONT, will create a recurring vacancy in their spot. All over-60 FE’s who want a window seat in lower-48 can have one. This will clear out this group from the DC8 FE position. Five of the FE bidders turn 65 in 2nd half of this year (after June 15 effective date). Quite a few more are on medicals, but cannot predict if they will bid. After displacement, DC8 manning will be about 71 CPT’s, 76 FO’s, and 146 FE’s. These numbers are based upon Reference Seniority List from last bid minus the displacements from this bid. I think those numbers are close, so if anyone sees an error, please correct. |
