Because Bob likes his role as "whistleblower" and general propaganda spewer. He could never function as a true leader.

And, Bob, please don't stuff my mailbox with more of your rhetoric anytime soon.

Yada yada yada.

Great slogan....but.......ALPA will take a far greater notice of the loss of dues income before they will take notice of anything you say, unless it falls along the approved party line.

I disagree. If you attend one of your LEC meetings a make a motion......................one that passes. It will carry weight, but the leadership has to hear the support from the membership. If it is the same guys month after month bitching and whing the same tune...........and the MEC isn't hearing it as a raor from the masses..........your right nothing will change. But if the masses agree with your resolution and start voicing their opinions tot he leadership..it will change.

Remember ..what does the term ALPA really mean. At FDX the leadership is mostly the same folks as the outgoing FPA...........same goes for the negotiating committee.

If they aren't doing what the masses want.they need to be recalled. I suspect this group is doing mostly what the masses want...........not what a few individuals (i.e. non members want).

Don;t like it......go to your next LEC meeting and pass a resolution for recall.
Then have your forms ready to run as our new leadership.......

LEC resolutions actually carry little weight. At UAL five of the seven LECs passed resolutions in favor of changing the age 60 rule. The MEC voted against the change. Now we have a rather large number of UAL members not on DCO. Yes they pay their dues, just a little slower than normal. I'm sure I did not read this in the ALPA magazine.

The masses really don't care about what happens. Just look at the vote on the ANC loa.

What is your point?? The LOA was a good deal for the pilots, the vast majority (that voted) gave it a thumbs up. Are you saying because the percentage voting wasn't as high as you (think) it should be that the non votes were no votes?? In any election you are lucky to get 1/2 the eligible voters to participate. Look at out presidential elections, what 55% or so vote. I think the LOA was a resounding success for the union and voter turn out.

The point is when the MASSES DO care and are willing to do something about it.....things get done. If the masses accept status quo........guess what?

Are you talking about the masses wearing the hats?

I don't recall anyone ever asking the members to wear their hats on a daily basis. If they want to, that is their choice. The only time that hats are mandated is on a picket line. Hope to see you on one in the near future G.

A word from TonyC. among others

I wear a hat because I'm not satisfied with the pace of contract negotiations. I wear it to remind myself to give 100.0% every day, every leg.

The sort is 30 minutes late. Hmmm. The Flight Plan says M0.80. The route of flight has a lot of twists and turns. Nice scenery. The ramp agent says the airplane will be ready 20 minutes early. That's nice. The scheduled deadhead has just been cancelled. Oh, well.

The day we ratify a contract that recognizes our contribution to this company's tremendous success and profitablity, I'll leave my hat at home and bring my goodwill to work. Until then, the goodwill is on the shelf in the closet, and the hat covers my head.

(Oh, and my watch is a $17 Armitron from KMart. I'm on the second battery, now. )
