The other thing that has not been mentioned in a long time is there are no FOOD COURTS anywhere we fly to out of here, which is going to put a real crimp into the memphites layover plans.
You will also need a larger suitcase because the ANC-crew layover dress code strictly prohibits the wearing of the Mempho-crew layover garb (black leather jacket, jeans, white tennis shoes).

If I had any power, we'd have a better LOA.
I do find it humorous that jagplt pointed out that it wouldn't work and that it might be doable for some of the trips.
I also find it humorous that no one had any issues with the individual who called in sick when he couldn't make it to ANC only to later call in well after everything fell into place.
As to what kind of a guy I am? I am the guy who has jumper cables and will go out of the way to try and get your car running. I'm the guy who will drive you home when the car doesn't start or isn't at the airport, even if it's a out of the way. I'm also the guy who will drive you over to the other side of the airport when you DH'd out versus taking FedEx. I'm the kind of guy who plans to buy all the beer when I'm a Capt (unlike some of the Capts I've flown with who point out we all get the same per diem rate)
I am the kind of guy who gives the company 100% of my best effort. And planning to jump in an hour prior just doesn't cut it, whether it's in Memphis or Anchorage. But, I'm not the kind of guy who's going to show up 30+ hours early just because I don't have 8 hours between landing and show when I jump into work for a one or two day trip. Sure I'll plan for more backup options when it's a 70hr trip. But, if bad things happen and I wind up showing later than I hoped-and I still feel capable of safely operating the trip-then I expect to continue on with my schedule. At the same time, I don't blindside CRS. If things are tight, I give them a phone call.
What I don't do is give the company 200%? It's a two way street and I just don't see the company working 200% with me.

I agree with what you FR8Hauler. Btw, I too have wondered why the other hubs aren't at least in some sort of protective cover. That's what I used to do with my Jepps, because I knew those were the pages most likely to get chewed up. Or perhaps we could come up with some sort of electronic system that revolutionizes things by.....never mind that's too much and too soon. Alas.

I noted the sarcasim. No worries, I am sure we will to. A lot of p' od' people right now and we all need to keep from taking it out on each other. It is just really sad because ANC is a great base with great people and now the whole dynamics will change. A bunch of angry memphites are going to be forced to make a miserable commute from their Mecca in Collierville so they can make their payment on their kids tuition at Ole Miss. Just not good for anyone. I think the whole point here is it is not an easy commute and you have to make a commitment to come here that you are going to spend extra DAYS in ANC on your own time. I bought a place and made it my home away from home which has been great, but expensive. The other thing that has not been mentioned in a long time is there are no FOOD COURTS anywhere we fly to out of here, which is going to put a real crimp into the memphites layover plans. Also, now that this Exodus of memphites is going to occur can we start putting the ANC approach plates in plastic a leaving them in the trip folder?
