You forgot to mention that we are still working 15 Reserve days for that pay cut! tim |
Still has to come down to a vote by the membership right? Whatever the solution, global or not, is that the NC/MEC proposes to US.
Block 8 629 members Block 1 573 My point, block 1 is outnumbered if our concern is that they are going to throw us under the bus. I am in no way proposing dissention between the blocks by the way... But, will 51% of the membership continue to take the heat? Company is waiting for us to reach the breaking point, even though the polls show strong support throughout our membership right now...they are waiting, so far so good though lotta guys are hurting from the financial hit. Company is gut checking us in alot of ways here. NC will be neutered if we fold. Sooner or later the company is going to have to negotiate instead of dictate if we hang together. But, right now they aren't listening at all to our guys, waiting for us to self destruct. Where the hell is Yoda... BTW Mark and the rest of the silent majority out there. From us guys on the bottom of the list, thanks. |

Can't the MEC do whatever they want regarding the FDA's...I think that was one of the caveats in the LOA.

Guys, do you really think it serves a purpose to fire your cannons at the various segments of our seniority list? Do you junior guys really think the Block 1 folks "want to throw you under the bus?" How many Block 1 guys have you heard that from--1, 2 or maybe 3? I'm pretty sure that almost all of US in block 1 want to do everything that can be done to keep the junior guys employed. We're all in this together and we need to stick together if we're going to win this one. But I'll tell you, as a guy who's seniority number is less than 150, I get tired of being "beat up" on this forum by junior folks who seem to believe that all of the senior guys are out to get them. It just simply isn't the case.
I just want to encourage you guys to point your venom at flight management or the economy or SOMEBODY besides your fellow pilot or even the Union. We have each other and ALPA and they are the only players on our side. It just doesn't serve a purpose to get into a pi##ing contest with our own team. 'Nuff said. MG2 |

MG2 MG2, Good to hear a senior guy vocalize support for the junior guys. I think, just like there's a vocal minority of junior guys, there's also a vocal minority of senior guys who want their BLGs back up. I think most guys want everyone to stay employed. Everyone's feeling the pinch right now and some guys running more scared than others which results in comments like Mark's on occasion. You're right, we need to hang togther. If you're a senior guy and you support taking a BLG cut to keep everyone employed, say so. If you're a junior guy, say thanks for the support! |

Word in RGS is that if we furlough, there is no guarantee that BLG's would return to the previous level due to the furlough. There would still have to be change (we can believe in) in the economy. O was quite specific about that one. Not saying it's right or wrong... just relaying the message.

As I said in a previous post as long as the cost to furlough exceeds the cost to retain there will be no furlough. In the meantime we can expect to see the company push as much of this cost to retain on to the pilots. That is exactly what is going on right now. Instead of concentrating our efforts on sticking together too much of our efforts are going into tearing each other apart/down. Time is running out, especially for our most junior pilots.....

MG2 Was the FPA a better path to deal with times like this? Remember that this paragraph in the contract originated with the FPA. Is ALPA better than (fill in the blank) to deal with this? If you think the answer is no advocate/union then we disagree. What would have happened already if we had no union at all? Better off? I don't like our current situation one bit but I'm unwilling to throw darts at my fellow pilots and/or union as if they were the cause and in complete control of the solution. |
