Default R24 Climate?

Just got a quick question for the recent R24 bidders. What has been your utilization or more plainly "how has scheds been treating you"? Looking at bidding it in April. Thanks.

Saw a MEM HTSBY show up in open time today and took a look to see who was getting assigned these pairings and how many of them there were. When I looked at the other guys on HTSBY for other days of the week, lots of R24 guys sleeping in MEM for dollars. At least on the 11 F/O side it looks like they were not getting used much other than the HTSBY pairings and all the HTSBY pairings were assigned to R24 holders.

Usual nonsense. Watched today two R24 guys get two 4 day hotel stbys. there's still one sitting in open time so doesn't look like too many people want to pick that up. Although the pay looks wrong. 4 days hotel stby, why wouldn't that pay Time Away? Seems like it should be over 20 hours.

I wondered on the pay, too, when it happened to me. You end up getting reserve leveling credit: so they figure (# of days) x (R-day value) = CH. BTW, they are only supposed to bring an R24 guy into hotel standby if they would have to draft to fill a local airport standby.

I'd say take it to contract enforcement but they probably figure you are trying to "game the system" by wanting to stay home when you are on R-24.

This is wrong. Hotel standby is at 6 hrs per day (or 6.4). I bet enforcement can help here. Sure you get leveling credit, but that doesn't set the pay at 4 hrs a day.

3153, 3154, and 3155 on 13 Mar 09. It looks like 3155 died but I think the other two are still there.

Looks like 3153 should pay 23+36 based on TAFB. Did I miss something in the contract that allows them to pay less for a HTSTBY pairing!? Good catch.

Update:

Yep, I knew airport standby in base paid R day value, but did not know that applied to hotel standby in base as well.

Section 4.O. Minimum Guarantees and Other Pay Provisions - Base Standby Pay

1. A pilot on base airport or base hotel standby shall be guaranteed minimum standby pay of an R-day value, except as provided in Section 4.O.2. (below).
2. If a pilot eligible for substitution is assigned a base stand-by, (as provided in Section 25.H.5.d.), and does not block-out on a trip, he shall be credited with 6 CH towards his substitution guarantee. If he blocks out on a trip, he shall be compensated the greater of trip guarantee for such trip or substitution availability credit.
3. If a pilot on base airport standby blocks out on a trip, he shall earn the trip guarantee for that trip, with the calculation of MPDP and duty rig beginning at showtime of the standby period.
4. If a pilot on base hotel standby blocks out on a trip, he shall earn the trip guarantee for that trip.
