Default FDX - Seniority Question

Not sure if this is true, sounds a bit off to me but thought I would ask.

I was told that-
~If you were hired by fedex throwing boxes (non-flying) at a sorting facility now (march 09)
~Quit worked elsewhere for several years
then
~Got hired by fdx to fly, your date of hire would be your original date (march 09) and that it would also be what your seniority would be based on

Is that true?? I know nothing about fdx or their seniority, just something I heard...

The answer is no on seniority but you will get your old employee number again if you quit and then come back. You never get a seniority number unless you are hired as a crewmember.

Thanks.

What is the benefit of getting your old employee number?

None whatsoever. It's just a "tatoo" that you'll have for as long as you work there. Good luck to you.

If you get hired now after working for the company or transfer over from another postion you lose everthing. Before the last contract, You kept everthing except you got your serority number form the class you came in with. You might end up last in the class senority wise but kept your vacation time ( might have 4 weeks built up) kept your time with the company ( might have already 5 years in).
But Now you lose it all and start fresh. But if you are internal you do go into the next class and don't go into the pool.

You do keep your longevity towards retirement...ie...if you complete 5 years of service(YOS) as a box thrower, it counts towards your max of 25 YOS as a crewmember.
Class seniority is still determined by highest last 4 digits of your SSN (XXX-XX-9999 to 0001).
