For the poolies
this was also in Jack's last e-mail
"If we can find anyone looking for an adventure in the final frontier, i.e., Subic, we'll bring them in ASAP….."
What does this mean? who knows but I know this. If I was in the pool and could anyway convince my significant other to move around the world (or single and didn't care), I'd be calling letting them know I'd move. But that's just me....

koz2000,
What can you tell us about SFS? Is there a time commitment once you decide to go there? Isn't the base closing in 2008? Can you bid anywhere you want if displaced with base closure?
What are the living conditions there? Is first year pay enough to live on?
Is it even possible to live in USA and go back and forth to work/home?
The lines looks like mostly Asia flying. Is there any flying to the US?
Do the lines go senior or does reserve?
Thanks for you responses.
From an interested poolie......

You may want to verify...No commitment. However when you bid back, you will have a seat freeze of 18 months. That only applies if you don't take a company paid move. There are commitments for that. That being said...they can hold you here based on company need by extending your transfer or putting your training slot toward the end.
All Asia flying, and probably the best flying in the company.
Relatively inexpensive to live here. With the base closing, you will be able to transfer to any base/equipment that you can, or previously could, hold.
If you are single, I would highly recommend it. If you have a family, you would owe the company 3 years if you want a move back. If you are a commuter, it would be fairly miserable, unless you can throw some mil leave down to make you schedule work. We do have commuter lines, but they go senior.
Good luck with your decision

Small classes, 10 every two weeks. MD-11 for the ANC base. CP said the first class(es) were former larger airplane types with glass experience. Larger hiring classes planned for Fall when they do more traditional hiring (read: 727 FE). Stopping meet and greets after those they have committed to do. Pool full (enough) for now.

Last seniority number is now 4621 (numbers redone at end of June to account for last years retirements.)
