To FedEx pilots....
I'm about to begin my aviation career this summer in flight school, I can't explain how excited I am about becoming a professional pilot. It has been a dream of mine! I currently live in Memphis, TN and know that Fedex is based out of here (fedex planes fly over my apt about every 10 secs)!!! The question I had was if anyone on here lives in memphis and is a pilot for fedex that could meet up with me and give me a tour of fedex, kind of let me shadow you and see what it is like to be a fedex pilot. Sometimes I just go out to the memphis airport and watch planes takeoff and land!! I would be willing to do whatever to get an opportunity to hang out with one of you guys and learn the ropes!! I know I have a long way to go, but I just can't get enough of it and spending some time at the airport would be awesome!! I'm a good listener and easy to get along with young man, it would be an honor to get to learn from someone who is where I strive to be in many years I'm sure!! Let me know if anyone would like to help me fulfill a dream!! Thanks guys!!

I've been wanting to meet up with one of these guys, but nothing ever came of it! Hope you have better luck than me.
Seriously, this sounds like a reasonable request although I am not sure you can shadow them right into the cockpit. Don't anticipate it too much, is my advice.

I understand! But, it would be an awesome experience for me!

I know alot of us would be willing to meet you. However, the issue is security. All areas of the operation are contained in FAA restricted areas so getting clearance is difficult at best. There is a pilot in charge of hub tours but am not sure about requirements. I do know that Henderson State University schedules tours every year. I will check and see about requirements.

David,
Not to discourage you in the least, but this is the internet after all. Don't let your eagerness get in the way of common sense. Please let your parents know of your ambitions as well as what you have posted.
Everyone I have ever met here is a true professional. That said, Pilots are not the only ones who post here.
Good luck to you lad.

I may have a young enthusiasm about being a pilot, but I am of more advanced age!!

If you want to get up close to the action, get a job in the hub. Be prepared to loose your pie-eyed optimism though. The place is a "dream killer". I grew up with FedEx and wanted to fly for them from a young age, but a couple of years working in the hub after college made me run away screaming!
Just an idea though. Good luck!
