Man
Dealing with the crew staffing models and bidding process here is beginning to be like dealing with a 13 year old boy and asking him a yes or no question.
13 year old boy: "errrr....uhhhhhh.....mmmmm"
You: "it's a 'yes' or 'no' question"
13 y/o: "uhh"
You: "look...either 'yes' or 'no' is ok......but you gotta pick one"
13 y/o: "Yes!"
You: "Yes?!"
13 y/o: "uhmmm no"
You: "No????....are you sure...cause you just said 'yes'?"
13 y/o: "Yeah....I;m sure.....NO!"
You: "Ok....it's no then....why'd you say 'yes' in the first place"
13 y/o: "I don't know..."
Threatening furlough for over a year....then 4a2b.....numerous cancelled bids, excesses, cancelled SIBA.....If they are trying to wear us down for negotiation, then it is working....but probably not the desired effect.
I used to get all worked up about things as I was really motivated and gung ho. Now, this is getting to be just a job.....a pretty good job to be sure....but that's it. It was always just business...but now, rather than conducting business with someone you like and respect, it is more like conducting business with a guy you may or may not like or trust.....watchful....always wary, highest possible labor rates, standard mark-up on parts, no discounts, expect a fight everytime you present him with his final bill (even though he agreed to the price earlier).....and always....always.......money up front.

Practice Round #1 results:
CDG - A300 Capt - All 43 filled
CDG - A300 FO - All 42 filled
HKG - A300 FO - 12 of 13 filled
MEM - 757 Capt - All 25 filled PLUS 4 secondary vacancies
I guess they can't argue the 757 Capt seat is overmanned.

Round # 2 Guesstimates?
Any updated predictions?
Will all the Capt and FO slots in CDG stay filled?
Any changes in the seniority levels at the bottom?
Will HKG FO finally fill up?
Given some more recent info on the actual costs/risks of living in CDG, how will the bid results change?
Discuss....
