Thinking this might happen, I cut and pasted the the informative posts to a word doc before it was all removed. Anyone who is interested in a copy can PM me and I'll get it to you. I have no idea what is so secret about this stuff. Keeping this from us by whomever, seems to be contrary to our best interests.

"Selfishness"? He took the time to compose and send the info to the union and post it on a site intended for future CDG based pilots. Doesn't sound selfish to me! For whatever reason, he doesn't want it published elsewhere without his permission. If you wrote a letter to Bill and he showed it to Bob who decided to post it in public, would that make you "selfish" for objecting? The guy did a service that is available on the site of HIS choosing and now is getting flamed for his efforts. Unbelievable.
To whine about the 'where' in this situation in petty and yes, selfish. If the intent were to educate, that information was educating here. Why not remove it from here and sell it as 'flash cards' for $10 a pop? Oh wait, THAT would be selfish, but simply removing it from APC isn't...

If the LOA had been better, it would have gone senior.....and most likely, many wouldn't be losing seats. The FDA positions would (and should) have come out of the top end of the seniority lists.
I was all for "fixing" the FDA's when we had the leverage that wasn't recognized by the union. Not now. They can only threaten to furlough and excess so much. Eventually they will run out of folks who can be pressured to go overseas. At that point, the company will have to induce folks to bid MD-11 HKG (for example) instead of pressure them. When that happens, the company will be negotiating against themselves.
68% of us voted for the LOA (not me), not once but a few times. Those that bid it, did so voluntarily....under economic duress perhaps, but still voluntarily. The best fix is to do nothing for the LOA. Eventually the company will have to do something on their own. In the meantime, the consequences of the poor LOA will have to be weathered by us as they try to increase the sizes. In the long run, it will be best.
The way these FDA's were manned is a significant reason for the "re-alignment". All these years, the company had no problem with the seniority being "out of alignment", but suddenly had an issue with it now.
I have to chuckle when I think of all the folks who didn't care about the LOA because it "wouldn't affect them"....now having to be displaced.
For those that bid the LOA, I honestly wish you well, but I'm not willing to give up anything to better your lot.....I believe the FDA's have cost me enough already. You made your bed.......against the advice of others.....now go lie in it.

You guys bidding CDG--
How many credit hours are you planning on?
Is this assumption above 55 hrs? Are you certain it will be high like it has been in HKG? Come to think of it, HKG might not stay high either. All it takes is for the company to train a few extra for the domicile.
I'm not aware of any promises, written or otherwise, that the lines will not go down.
Too many variables that have not been nailed down, IMHO. Bid at your own risk.

If you look at HKG, the hours are fat because they are undermanned. The FO seat isn't filled....now think what will happen to the capt's blgs when the 20 new guys come to town. On a hopeful side, I hope they get some more cities...if that is the case, I would say that the blg's will stay.
My prediction for CDG, will be low blgs (until the new cities start increasing)

The LOA is flawed for many reasons.
-First of all, it is flawed because people who have families can NOT in any reasonable sense make it work. You will take such a hit putting your kids in school over there that it CAN'T work.
Second of all...it doesn't actually address the people on the seniority list who actually CAN go to Paris and live. I don't have any kids, so I COULD potentially go to Paris or Hong Kong with little trouble. Little trouble? What about the $520,000 house I bought in Fort Lauderdale in 2005!
-If Fedex bought it, or at least....carried the payments for a few years...I would be happy to cart my ass to Paris or Hong Kong for a few years while I courted dozens of potential future ex-wives....
Hmm. For some reason I don't think that this last is brain surgery. But apparently, at Fedex...It is.

Not to quible, but once the information was put out in the public domain, he no longer had any control over it. He's not a journalist or a copyrighted author, so his information, once posted, is fair game for anyone. Noone needs his 'permission' to copy and repost his posting.

I have plenty of reasons to go to Hong Kong. Until December 2006, I was an international widebody Captain of a 747 that flew around the world each month. Prior to that I flew 727's from each seat.
[The DC-10 that this airline bases itself upon? That's the one major mistake of Mr. Fred Smith....! That airplane, that DC10, and its' derivatives, the MD-10 and MD-11? These are CRAP! They've killed hundreds of people, and they will kill all of us if given the chance! This plane needs to become aluminum Audi's.]
This Fedex, this company? You'll watch it turn into 757's and 777's over the next 20 years. I predict:
--I predict:--
That the A330 will be our middle airplane, and the the A380, who's ramp is complete just south of rwy 9-27, will be our big airplane. After Fred negotiates a deal that is nearly obscene~
Go Fred....Go! I want to fly that thing before I leave!
