Simple if you are simple enough to live in MEM.

What is wrong with taking the scheduled and J/S out of MEM to home?

I also like the $283 fare MEM - LAX on NWA. Tried to find that thru Corp Travel and guess what? More like $400-450 range.

The problem with taking the scheduled and jumpseating is that you now are outside the trip parameter. The goal is to get home early!

Then you will have to pay out of pocket to get home early. The point I was trying to make is that the accepted fares for the last few years are not realistic. And, they never will be until we solve it on the next contract or everybody takes the scheduled and costs the company more money. Then, and only then, will the company be willing to adjust the accepted fares. But, if its only about you, and getting home early, then the company will never change their current policy.

I'm confused. They accepted fares are artificially low-how is using them going to cost the company money. I am referring to SIBA international fares.

They obviously can't buy some of these tickets for the price that they quote, but leave it to you to get there deviating for that price. If you take the scheduled deadhead, then they have to buy the ticket at the real price, costing them more money. The real savings is when they publish the tickets low, and the crewmember decides to js on the md11 for one end of the dh, so that they can pay for the other end.

You commuters dont get it. If you want this fare problem fixed, stop deviating. If every commuter refused to deviate for just one week, it would get fixed. Stop asking the union to do everything for you.
