Default FDX - Weekly vacation question

Hey fellas,
Did a search, called Futures, no joy...So I'll ask the experts: If I slid my vacation into the previous bid month but did not expand it, can I expand it in the upcoming bid month? My understanding is that if you slide your vacation into another month you can only expand it in either month, not both. And then by how much? Six hours above what's remaining in my bank, or six hours above my original award?

Thanks in advance!
SG

6 above award. 7 days of Vac, expand limit is 48 CH

Vacation Expansion (Regular Line Holders)
6a. In addition to or in lieu of a vacation slide, a pilot awarded a regular line
may expand his vacation period in either or both directions to conflict with a
greater number of credit hours. However, a pilot may not expand his
vacation from December into November, or from January into December.
A pilot may submit for a vacation expansion during the Conflict Input
Window immediately before the bid period in which a trip(s) affected by the
expansion is scheduled to begin, as provided in Section 25.E.2.
b. A vacation expansion shall not cause a vacation conflict that exceeds the
credit hour value of the original vacation period by more than 6 CH. All
days in the expanded vacation period shall be consecutive.
c. A pilot may not expand his vacation period to conflict with a trip(s) that
begins outside the bid period of his vacation as awarded or slid. However,
a pilot awarded vacation that extends into the next bid period may expand
within either bid period.
Example: A pilot awarded a 7 day vacation period in week 1 of August
may slide his vacation back so that it overlaps both the August and July bid
periods. He may then expand his vacation period to hit trips in either July
or August in accordance with normal expansion rules.

FYI...Was told by Futures that I can only expand 6 hours above what's currently in my bank (not above my award).

Also, in the example above, do they mean "either" as in both, or as in "one or the other."

Thanks,
SG

I think you can expand in both directions up to the expansion CH limit. Your vac period has to overlap both months (as originally bid or after a slide).

I thought you could go negative in your bank after an expansion. Anyone?

Yes, if you had 42 hours of vacation awarded and say 44 in your bank. You could expand up to 48 hours and thus be 4 in the whole. You can only expand 6 hours over the vacation award, not what is left in your bank.

So if you have 60 hours in your bank but a 42 hour (7 days) vacation left you can still only expand to 48 hours. Then you would have 12 hours left over in your vacation bank and would get paid those at the end of the year (subject to the max 40% buyback of course).

That's how I understand it too. I think Fut. told S_G otherwise.

If you had 8 hours in the bank and knocked out 48 CH on an expand (7 day period) it should let you and you'd be 40 hours in the hole.
