Default Pay for recurrent CBT

Its that time again and in the 13 yrs I've been on the Maddog, Ive seen the required CBT grow from 8-9 modules to 26 modules for this year. I know that I and most of us usually just click on the quizzes and rip thru the lessons in a few hours but if you do what was intended and actually review each module entirely, there is NO WAY that you can do all the CBT in the 8 hours we get paid automatically for. Most if not all the modules take between 45 min to an hour to actually do as intended resulting in 20+ hours of time at least for the MD-11.

The contract says specifically:
c. A pilot who completes CBT training shall earn 3 CH for each 8 scheduled hours of that training, or portion thereof. That compensation shall be in addition to BLG/RLG.

It looks pretty black and white to me, HAS ANYONE KEPT TRACK OF THEIR ACTUAL TIME TO DO THE CBT AND TURNED IN A PAY LOG FOR THE EXTRA 3 TO 6 HOURS OF PAY THAT WE SHOULD BE GETTING???? HAS ANYONE GOTTEN MORE THAN 3 HOURS OF PAY FOR CBT???

Contact the Anchorage Rep Guy Lopez. He in fact filed a grievance, and he'll have the details....

Default Cbt

I started keeping a log last year. After about 16+ hours, I got tired of trying to keep track. It was my intent to turn those times into the union. Getting paid 3 hours is hogwash!! Pay should be at least double that!! I actually try to read the material, as it is a great review. The Negotiating Committee definitely needs to address this issue.

They must want you to just click thru and obtain only a partial knowledge of the lessons. A demand for knowledge that can only be gained by 20+ hours of review would be outside the contract.

I've been told it's unreasonable to expect more than what can obtained contractually. I think I read it in an FCIF.

Angry pay for recurrent cbt

Thanks for the info guys, I thought maybe I'd been brain dead the last couple years but I am going to pursue this. It looks black and white in the contract to me. The way the company is steal money from us, I can't see letting them slide on this one!!

Why do we only get paid 3 hrs when it takes 8 hrs? Should we not get paid 8 hrs? As a minimum I can usually earn 6 CHs per day flying the line. Same with recurrent. If I spend 2hr brief, 4hr in the sim, and 1hr debrief, shouldn't I at least get 7hr pay? After all, this is hard time and much more stressful than flying. I think we need to write our reps and NC and get paid for actual hours for these company/FAA required events. Just my .02 worth.

In addition, in a previous life, when we were required to do drug screening, we were paid 30 min extra for the time it takes to do the "random" screening because this was in addition to the 30 min debrief. I say "random". just come off of extended sick leave or vacation and see how random it is.

How about the new harassement program for clearing Customs in EWR? Looks to me that will take much longer than the scheduled 30 minutes (FDX) of post flight duty. I see a few MEM MD11 pairings with only 15 hours in the hotel at EWR between Atlantic crossings.

Don't have a short layover, but will let you know tomorrow about how long the pleasure lasts .

Going to experience the "new process" in a few hours. Will let you know how it turns out. I've heard it adds about an hour to hour and a half

With our great safety record I am sure the FAA would be interested in the fact that we are being not being paid for our "required" training. Nobody is going to sit in front of a computer for 20 hours for 3 hours of pay. Just another example of us putting out without even getting a reach around.
