The letters we are receiving in the mail from Delta Skymiles is due to our current elite status with NWA. We are simply on the customer mailing list.

The big question is whether we can continue to accrue miles as FedEx pilots once the merger is complete. As far as I know we only have agreements with AA and NWA to acquire and use the miles. I realize there are other creative ways to acquire miles but these are the only two company authorized ones that I know of. Case in point....the only FF numbers that Global travels uses when making a reservation is AA and NWA.

Also as mentioned above, the fares on Delta are way out of line compared to the equivalent on NWA. I bet most of our tight banks won't allow us to afford deviation tickets on Delta.

Except, the accepted fares are going to have to be based on Delta's fare, which could end up being a much better deal for commuters.

Where do you get the impression that accepted fares have to be based on Delta's listed fares? They currently don't seem to be based on ANY available fare, since the company frequently can't buy tickets
for the (non-deviating) crew on the scheduled airline at the "accepted" rate.

How can that be! :eek: I have it on reliable sources that accepted fares are based upon a contracted or agreed upon fare.

...Come to think of it, they couldn't tell me what date the accepted fare was based upon. Might have been a month before the trip it ended up being applied to.

Or you could ask your block rep to ask the sig to ask the company.

You are not supposed to get miles from Delta with a company bought deadhead ticket. You can now get NWA miles flying Delta. I've heard of some airlines "taking away" miles earned from deadhead travel (with no agreement in place). It would be easier if the company gets a deal with Delta and allows us to earn skymiles. I am not sure in this work environment if I would try and earn miles on another carrier that we do not have an agreement with. Management is on a witch hunt now and the smallest thing just might get you "investigated." Ok, maybe I'm paranoid.....

I'll bet the company will still use Delta for most deadheads. If they get a direct flight, it saves them money vs. earning more credit with a connecting flight. I guess it will obviously depend on the city you are deadheading to/from. Some will obviously not be impacted, but others will add some credit hours to the pairing.

I understand and have lots of NW miles flying delta. But they are merging and it does not hurt to ask. The delta letter said after the merger you will get miles from all fares and booking classes. I believe FDX pays a fare and uses several booking classes. If you remember 3rd grade english or 3rd grade math you will know some is a subset of all. I do not trust delta either. I have not merged my accounts, but it would not hurt to ask. The union asking the company to ask Delta seems an appropriate way to find out.

If we don't get delta miles I will be happy switching over to AA next year.
