I believe FDX pays a fare and uses several booking classes. If you remember 3rd grade english or 3rd grade math you will know some is a subset of all. I do not trust delta either. I have not merged my accounts, but it would not hurt to ask. The union asking the company to ask Delta seems an appropriate way to find out.

If we don't get delta miles I will be happy switching over to AA next year.

The Delta letter is going out to all NWA Elite members explaining they will continue to accrue miles on Delta once the merger of the FF programs is complete. This letter doesn't take into account the contractual agreement that FedEx has with Delta for fare prices. These contractual fares are based in part on whether we can accrue and use the FF miles. In the past and I have not read anything that has changed this policy, we as pilots were not allowed to accrue the FF miles on United, Delta and several other airlines. Even if you had a FF card for a particular airline you were not allowed to present it to a ticket agent for a company paid ticket. We used to get strongly worded emails and FCIF's reminding the pilot force of this policy. Then FedEx got new contracts with NWA and AA allowing us to accrue and use miles in their FF programs. Due to airline alliances we picked up miles on Continental, Delta, Alaska Airlines and a few others using our NWA FF number. Same thing with AA. The only two FF numbers that Global travel will currently use or keep on file for us is NWA and AA. When the Delta/NWA merger is complete our NWA FF number will change to a Delta FF number. We will have to wait and see if FedEx will allow Global travel to put that number in our profile and on our ticketed reservations.

We do get miles on UAL. There was a UAL customer service rep in AOC a few years ago signing us up for their frequent flier program .

Lag,

Do what you want to do. I don't think I'd do anything that is questionable right now. I also remember seeing emails forbidding us to accrue ff miles on carriers other than NWA (now AA and United). While it seems trivial, it appears that management is pursuing trivial matters.

I do agree that the union should talk to the company about this. FF miles are a good deal for us and I have enjoyed elite status for years.

That is all I said (several times), I like my NW miles (and I really like the upgrades). I hope I get them with delta (if you read the delta literature we should). If I don't I'll live. But I would rather find out sooner rather than later. I guess I'll write my block rep. I am sure he is done tracking down the ALPA contributions to the anti-anti-"health insurance reform" debate. Right Albie?

I believe the only time we don't get FF credit is if FDX has some deal with the airline to purchase tickets at a discount. If there is no discount, as in Deltas case, then we get FF credit.

FYI, Global travel has my DL skymiles number on file and I have been getting FF miles on Delta on my DHs for years (ever since FDX lost the discount they had with Delta five years ago or so). Global travel pays the same ticket price we would pay on the internet or on the Delta website so there is no reason we would not get FF credit.

I asked someone at Global Travel this question a few weeks back and they said they were pretty sure we could get the miles on Delta since the NWA/DAL merger went through. I don't know on what authority this comment was made, but I would feel more comfortable knowing the message came from someone who wouldn't punish us if we did wrong.

On a side note, I knew someone who commuted from the Houston area and used Continental for most of their travel. They would attach their NWA FF number to the ticket since CAL has a code share with NWA. I'm thinking that since it wasn't a NWA ticket they can't do this. Anyone know if this is legit?

Yes. it's legal. Been doing this very thing on Alaska, and other NW code-shares with NW miles for years. Northwest Elite services and Corp Travel have no problems with us doing this.

Same here, been doing this with Continental for at least 11 yrs. I've gotten plenty of upgrades in Continental and now Delta, as well.

The CAL slash NW code share and miles ends soon doesn't it?
