...reviving an old thread...

Same type of scenario. VIPS is showing me going non-current on January 21st. If I bid a trip in January that, say, departs on the 18th and operates past the 21st, will I get to fly that trip with them assuming I'll get my two landings at the beginning of the trip, or will they pull it and not chance me not getting my landings (high mins, Cat III, etc.)?

You'll be offered a 3n3 sim on the 17th.

Call and schedule the 3&3 at a time that is convent for you. They will probably let you do it this month.

They will not let you go if there is a chance you will go non-current on the trip.

Definitely take the initiative and get a sim scheduled. You won't be allowed to start a trip if you MIGHT go NOQ during that trip. Also note, you are not allowed to do any make-up, volunteer, etc. activity on or after your NOQ date, even if you have trips or a sim already scheduled. I lost a 50 hr. trip for that very reason (lost grievance--shocking, huh?)

Surprisingly, several years ago I was allowed to fly a trip that started a few days before I was to go non-current. First, I got an e-mail confirmation from the captain that he would allow me to have the first two legs to regain my currency. I then called scheds, explained the situation, and forwarded the captain's e-mail. They allowed me to fly the trip. Sometimes a little preemptive communication does work.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to try and be proactive, but I'm looking at a possible short-notice military leave, and I don't think they'll let me do a sim on MLA... Just trying to not lose any trips in January.
