Looking for a gym in SDF
#2
There's an Urban Active that's down on Preston near the Fern Valley intersection and the FTC that has (had?) a pretty decent UPS discount. There's also one up near Mall St. Matthews, but that's not really too close to Bardstown Rd.
Looks like there's a Curves down in the Highlands, though!

The urban active in St. Matthews was giving a nice discount to IPA members and I think will still be doing it. Call and ask for Lonnie.
Otherwise, there's a couple on Bardstown Rd a block from my house, near Asiatique. I'm not sure the rates at either though.

Do yoursef a favor take a look at the Urban Active at Hurstbourne its not too far from Bardstown rd. Its the nicest gym I've ever been to. Plus if your stting around on Reserve the slightly longer drive helps kill time!!! It is an impressive facility.

Here ya' go: Health Club, Fitness Center or Gym | Louisville, Kentucky KY
When I flew for UPS and based in SDF I'd go to the YMCA. From what I remember it was a fairly nice facility and of course having a membership allowed you to use any other YMCA in the world.

There's a smaller gym in the Highlands and it's called Highland Fitness. I have no experience with them. However, I do use Fitness on Frankfort and it's not much farther away. The facilities are nice and the customer service is great. There are many membership packages from which to choose.
I went to Urban Active on Shelbyville Rd for 2 years and although there is a nice selection of equipment and plenty of room, the customer service is poor, it is like the Wal Mart of gyms and they tried to nickel and dime me out of everything. When renewal time came, I turned them down, even when they eventually brought the cost down 60% from my original membership. I recommend against them.
I have heard good things about the downtown Y as well as the Jewish Community Center's gym on Dutchman's Lane (no, you don't have to be Jewish )....both close to the Highlands.

Havn't been to SDF in a long time but both SnapFitness and Anytime Fitness show locations within 3 mi. of the airport. Might not be close to Highlands but lots of 24/7 clubs all over the country.
Snap is 1 train stop from MSP and Anytime is the first bus stop from main terminal at MSP, for example.
