UPS announcement
Below are the last two paragraphs from the Reuters press release. I interpret the bold face as fact that the company will (or already has) accepted our give-backs and factored this savings into the earnings upgrade today.

UPS said it expects a one-time charge in 2010 as a result of the restructuring, but this will be offset by savings in the small package business.
The company is due to report quarterly earnings on February 2. UPS shares were up 5.7 percent at $60.71 in morning trading. FedEx shares were up 1.8 percent at $84.43.

Spoke to someone very higher up in atlanta and said all job cuts are level 3 and up ground managment due to loss of profit on the ground side and ups were told to decrease management world wide by atleast 11%. More cuts to follow in excess of 3800 or more and they're analyzing the needs for these positions asthey are reconstructing thier regions and district. Asked him about the air side and the comment was, We are still evaluating and need to be much more effecient and leaner all around.

It may not be the best arrangement but it is what it is ... one of the few advantages is that they will one day be forced to comply with some of their own unreasonable directives. It can be sort of funny to hear them b*tch about them (sometimes the guy that actually instituted the policy!)
