Default thanks

I appreciate all the input. FDX28 - thanks for the link; that was the company info I thought I'd seen at some point. Its nice that they bury it in the training department.

I didn't consider that it could be easier to get a waiver with a 1st class than to upgrade to a 1st if you develop an issue while you have a 2nd... interesting.

Good luck.
I have a primary care doc, and an AME.

It is like having a wife and a mistress, and may the two never meet

Just go 1 time per year but make sure its says "First" on it versus "Second."

If you are younger than 40 when you get your 1st class, it remains as 1st class status for a full calendar year, then drops to a 3rd class.....

I would not want to get ramp checked in any of the fine ICAO "stan" countries or Venezuela etc. with a expired 1st Class or only a second class medical in 121 or supplemental ops.

If it's a requirement, then why isn't it required for SIBA?

Read the flier posted on the previous page from the FAA and it is you to you the pilot to ensure you are legal to operate in a foreign country just as you have to abide by their flight rules. You can go to the ICAO web site and read the rules for yourself. I do not know why the company has not required SIBA crews to hold a first class?

Yea, I got all that. However, I think the company is smart enough to make it a requirement if there was a possibility of someone being pulled off a flight resulting in a service failure. It's not like SIBA is something new.

How about the lack of an RFO on SIBA flights? If you read the beginning of the flier, it states flights requiring 3 or more pilots.
