FDX MD11 Crew Base in HKG
#11
Hearing the same rumors from mgmt types, lca's...Not MD-10's but 11's is what I have heard. My question is how the hell are they going to fill the right seat again? We already have the most junior dudes in HKG already. Here we go again, expect excesses out of ANC and the whole deal all over.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but that is factually incorrect. They are simply saving crews by basing them in theater. At some point we may see some expansion but all FDA slots are to become more efficient with the flying we already conduct. Upgrades just got outsourced, unless you want to chase it...for the foreseeable future.

If no one bids it...
But when was the last time we had strategic thought...
If we bid it, it reduces actual crews needed....optimized even more...
If we don't, and hold out and make them up the ante....??? HMMM
They save money and crews are talking of expanding while in 4.a.2.b....(not to mention buying planes...)
Lets have some sack and start playing hardball...
IMHO.

They have been talking about putting MD-10's over in Asia for over 9 years (about the same amount of time that they have had them). They are not working out in the States like they thought so what make anyone think that they will work in Asia where it is hotter and more humid and a hell of a lot more hills! Just look at what is going on with flying out of TPE and going to CAN, you have to go to the PI first! That really helps the cut off time. Like someone already said, I will believe it when I see it painted purple.
At least that's my 2 cents.......

My guess is if they want 60 MD-11 HKG Capts they will put a bid out with 120. Assign as many as they can get to bid it. Publish a training letter. Then cancel the awards (in reverse seniority order) if they get more than 60 volunteers.

How would a WB bid in HKG affect the "virtual" training letter and those guys getting POP? Will they have to bid HKG or be dropped from "virtual" POP? Just curious

A pilot's FEPP under Section 24.C.6.d. shall end upon the earlier of:
a.
The pilot's failure to bid (i.e., a vacancy bid in a vacancy posting; a bid to relieve in an excess posting) a crew position at 100% that the pilot could have held with a rate of pay the same or greater than the denied FDA crew position.
Not only that, but;
FEPP shall only be subject to repayment if the FEPP ends as provided in the Settlement Agreement under:
a.
paragraph B.2.a. if the crew position the pilot failed to bid was the previously denied FDA crew position;
