Default FDX-Vacation slide

Is the 5 day slide either side a sure thing or does it have to be approved? I have never done it in my short time here. Thanks!

Should be no problem, it is contractual. Check the bid period processing summary tab and you will get a graphic of exactly what you are doing to your line when you slide/expand etc.

Long as you do it in the appropriate conflict window isn't a big deal. Best of all, the summary view will give you an idea of the exact footprint of your vacation. (First week of May vacations could be slid into the April bid month---just think of it as what month do I want vacation hours to knock out trips and it shouldn't catch you by surprise if the option isn't available to you when the Conf/Input window opens)

The exception that proves the rule is you can't slide into a previous major holiday, e.g. vacation in January isn't going to slide into December and knock out Christmas trips

Thought I'd revive this thread to ask another question of the vacation gurus to see if anyone has done it. I know you can't slide vacation in a previous bid month to knock out holiday trips, such as Jan vacation to Dec or Dec vacation to Nov.

I also know from the contract that you cannot expand vacation into a holiday, BUT it seems fine to slide a vacation in the same month to knock out holiday trips. I just don't want to flunk bidding. I assume that I can slide a vacation period that starts NOV 29 up to the 5 days left to cover Thanksgiving on the 25th.. Am I correct?

Thanks.

Yes,
And though you can't slide the vacation to touch december holidays, the buffer can.

You can't slide a January vacation back to X-mas or a December vacation back to Thanksgiving but you CAN slide a December 27th vacation back to December 22nd and knock out X-mas if you need to. The only restrictions apply to back-sliding January or December vacations to knock out November or December holiday trips. I think that is what you meant.
