UPS lands defense work - Business First of Louisville:
UPS Airlines, a division of United Parcel Service Inc., has received a contract to provide cargo shipments for the U.S. Transportation Command between April 1 and March 31, 2011.
The contract includes a one-year option from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Defense.
UPS will compete with four other companies on a daily basis for a portion of the $870 million worth of international shipping work, which includes door-to-door transportation of palleted and oversized cargo.
Louisville-based UPS Airlines holds various contracts to serve the U.S. armed forces.
