Well, we will just have to disagree. In my opinion, they could absofrickinlutely
give a rats arse what any of us think or feel about them, and will screw you any chance that they get to save a penny.

B727 Capt 2 years
MD11 Capt 3 years

Now, I've been bumped out of the MD11.....here's the data on how 4.a.2.b. has stuck it to some of us. In my case:

2004 - B727 Capt - $175,000
2005 - B727 Capt - $207,000
2006 - MD11 Capt - $257,000
2007 - MD11 Capt - $244,000
2008 - MD11 Capt - 249,000

And, under 4.a.2.b. this year is shaping up to be $181,000.

That's a reserve B757 Capt that does ZERO carryover/make-up. I am interested to know what impact this "stealing" has had on others.

It's time for the company to do the right thing and exit 4.a.2.b. Some of us have taken a HUGE hit. I for one understand more than ever what being "junior" on an airplane means and I will NEVER do it again. Right seat wide-body here I come.

He is not looking for sympathy just stating a fact how the company took money from your wallets to someones else's. The one thing that you should never ever do is feel bad for what kind of money you make. We all worked hard for it and deserve every damn dime. If you factor in REAL inflation you are actually losing money ever year. Just look at a CO's salary...... I am at UPS and about to get laid off and I am glad you made that kind of money. I have no bad impressions of Fed Ex guys at all. Enough of the PC Bu***it.

Convair,

I agree, there is no reason to apologize for what you make. I agree with the overall point of your post. Also, you make informative and useful posts 99.9 percent of the time. Most of us just question your judgement in posting those salary numbers.
When I was a military officer, my pay rate was free for anyone to see, but I didn't talk about what I made with NCOs or junior enlisted. Like someone mentioned earlier, percentages would have been just as effective.

Hdriver,

You shouldn't feel bad for what you make. You just don't have to tell everyone about it. He could have just said he took a 30% 4.a.2.b haircut. We would understand. Anyway, it didn't bother me, but did others. I think he was trying to make a point, and it got lost due to people having a come apart over the amount of money he made. I get the point.

We took it in the shorts over 4.a.2.b. It would be a good rallying point for negotiations.... I get it....

A few things the PC boys seem to have missed:

I've never met anyone who's overpaid for doing their job.
You don't get what you're worth; You get what you negotiate.

The OPs use of actual dollar amounts are well within reason.

Look, nobody disagrees with your message, just your style. What some of us are trying to say, and you are rejecting in a very emotional, angry way, is that posting your annual wages on a public forum is bad form. You could have picked a better way to deliver the same message. How you got from that friendly advice to "sensitive pansies" unwilling to fight for a new contract is just goofy. Have a shot of weed and relax, we agree with the substance of your assertion that 4a2b has impacted all of us.

You get what you negotiate. Stating what you got is fine. It's not news that FDX guys get more now, it's their time in the sun. 7-8 yrs ago it was the United Guys....so what.......anyone who takes issue with a guy who is lamenting a loss is just petty and jealous...sorry .....thats what it is. All of our pay scales are a matter of public record...duh....no surprise there....quit the PC crap. If you are not mature enough to see and address realities then maybe you shouldn't have an ATP. I don't begrudge Fred or Bill Gates or Bloomberg or anyone else their fruits. it's all about what you negotiate or build or demand or create. Thats all.
