Default OHHHHHHHHHHH Boy (UPS)

If you think between whats going on with the mechanics and the pilots in ups this place is going south the way that will make the 97 strike look like a joke. Ups will never be the same and this place as far as employee morale has gone backwards a good 20 yrs, not sure how long it be before we are back specially given the current economic climate but i say we are done. Look at the activity on the memphis side compare to ours. This country will have a single package xpress carrier and IT AINT GONNA BE US>

that's pretty dramatic, but i agree that it doesn't seem like ups is keeping up. it's also possible that bad management and confrontational management might finally get the best of them.

let's hope.

So when you say let's hope, is that hoping you'll be out of a fairly decent paying job soon? I'd rather UPS stay in the airline business, but I have a feeling they could care less what the mechanics do, as this would just give them a reason to shut the airline down sooner rather than later. Amazing how fast this place went in the gutter..

I hope you are wrong. Some one that is getting booted next month, so I have lots of reasons to see things go bad. But I still hope this place comes back around.

It does make you wonder what is going on. Everyone is expanding but UPS. Everyone is buying new airplanes. Growing the business. The only thing growing at UPS is the BOD and CEO salaries.

Our flying is getting "contracted out somewhere. That is a fact. Already a couple of grievances filed.

The arrogance of the "management" here reminds me of some good books I have read about "invincible" companies that go south REALLY FAST.

This is not the way good companies are ran. The mechanics are just the tip of the iceberg. Time to start saving.....or looking for a new job.

I already am applying to other carriers and believe me when they ask me the big Y and i tell them whats going on they are in shock. It's a bad publicity for the company because people are jumpin ship to the competetor. Hey if i had business and people are telling me as to what is going on in brown and thier labor dispute and unrest i"ll be jumpin ship too after all just like they told us, It's just business. How ironic that CP hotline is asking people for leads to bring business back. I have a lead for you, im out of here in a first chance i get and taking all my leads with me, after all they just came here because of me.I have to provide for my family and i just don't think that i can rely on ups anymore, have to do whats right for me and the family. Hope to say ADIOS TO BROWN VERY SOON>

Good story, but not very believable. If you really do leave though, enjoy the flavor of the month when you get there, pray you don't regret your decision in years to come, and thanks for letting me move up a number. If you were smart enough to know the future of UPS, you'd be running the company not working for it.

B2P,
Though I dont think Brownie is leaving this place, I know of many that really regret coming here. The management relations in this place are the absolute worse I have ever seen. I have worked at some really bad places before too. But for a company of this size to treat its workers this way is a joke. There is so much potential, but many in management are so arrogant and self centered, it make you wonder about the companies future. The only people not seeing this are the ones with their heads still in the sand that have not been effected by the furlough. Their day is coming even if they dont want to believe it. This place could shut the airline down and through SCS outsource all of our work. Have you seen the grievance filed regarding this?

UPS is planning on using all the FQS's to replace 1.7 or so Captains. They will continue to bump people backwards till they get the "metrics" they are looking for. It is not going to be pretty. Yes they will furlough all 300. I'll bet you a beverage of your choice on that one.

EVERYONE is hiring and expanding. We are parking planes and furloughing. The BOD and CEO have given themselves HUGE pay raises. The MOU was turned down for some mysterious reason. I guess they could not wrap their hands around it.

UPS is pinning lots of hopes on the FAA Reauthorization bill getting the FedEx language included. UPS needs to understand that the relationship going on with their employees is not going to get the public behind this bill. (Mechanics...Pilots...) Laying people off in states that are already hit by the economy is bad Karma. I have spoken with a Senator and member of the House about how we have gotten treated. Yes they are both on the transportation and infrastructure committee. Guess which way they both indicated they are going to vote?

I have been reading these threads on the furlough for a while and thought I should add my condolensces for you guys. I just had an ANC layover and we brought one of your commuters home this morning. After being in the beauty of Alaska, I felt so much for you guys who have been left high and dry, with no assistance from such a profitable company.

I used to think that the only places I'd leave my current carrier job would be for UPS and FedEx, now I I know I'd only leave for FedEx.

It seems impossible for this furlough to deepen and continue long term, specially with the economic turnaround we're experiencing. I hope your management's strong-armed tactics at getting contract concessions will backfire on them and that their greed will end up biting them in the ass.

You bottom guys/gals have all been around for a while and have probably been searching for other opportunities for some time now. However, just thought I should remind you of the high availability of expat, and commuter, contracts out there. The commuter contract with ANA on the 767 is great, and the commute from ANC would not be too bad at all. For those that haven't looked at it, check it out on www.crewresourcesworldwide.com

Sorry to know you're going through what only bankrupt airlines make their employees go through.

1. I understand that management here at UPS isn't in love with its employees. However, shutting down the airline with new jets coming in for the next few years is not credible.

2. There is no grievance concerning the 200% increase last month in SCS...yet. We need the evidence first...If you attended the SDF GMM you would've heard that straight from the EB.

3. The FQS problem is being attacked aggresively but it will take time...and it will be likely be ultimately successful from what the EB has been told by two different legal firms.

4. Not everyone is hiring yet, but I'll tell you this much...the ones that are hiring or do so in the future will look like buffoons if this economy takes another temporary dip. Look at the cast of non-profitable characters making noises about hiring.

5. I agree that UPS is pinning a lot of hopes on the FAA reauthorization bill...I recommend that you don't pin your own hopes on it as well.
