Captains, 24 MEM 757 First Officers, 40 MEM MD11 Captains and 30 MEM MD11

The Company is “cautiously” positioning itself for a Global economic
recovery. As is often the case, there are competing views regarding the
sustainability of a recovery. The company is continuing to pursue its long
term strategy of aggressively transitioning to the 757 domestically and the
777 internationally while fully understanding we may face some economic
headwinds in the short term.
As always, it is extremely important that you update your standing bid and
that it reflects what you want to fly. Your standing bid and seniority
will be the final determining factors when this vacancy posting is
awarded. The bid opens today, July 6, 2010 and will close at 1400z on
Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
757 First Officers
All 757 First Officers must obtain and maintain a First Class medical

Practice Bid
There will be two practice bids; Thursday, July 8th and Thursday, July 15th
Future Bids
We are currently evaluating plans for a 757 FDA in EMEA and an MD11 FDA in
HKG. These could potentially be posted in the fall/winter of 2010/11.

757 Vacancy #s seem a bit low ---- 24 Capts & 24 FOs
Looks like that will only expand the training letter out to Nov or Dec.
Perhaps they are planning to dedicate the training slots after that to those who bid the future 757 FDA.

I really hope so. We'll see how this bid fills in. I would be surprised if there weren't some holes to be filled when it's all said and done. However, I wouldn't expect anything until after Peak. The company just doesn't move that fast to have a bid AND hiring. They'll look at how this does and make a decision. I'd say January at the earliest. But I could be totally wrong.
