FCIF 10-0358 Posting 10-2 (Admin)

Issue Date: 07/06/10 2103z
Source: Paul Cassel
Suspense: 12/31/10
Approved: Paul Cassel

Attached, please find Posting 10-02 dated July 6, 2010. This is a vacancy
posting for 50 MEM 777 Captains, 50 MEM 777 First Officers, 24 MEM 757
Captains, 24 MEM 757 First Officers, 40 MEM MD11 Captains and 30 MEM MD11
First Officers.
The Company is “cautiously” positioning itself for a Global economic
recovery. As is often the case, there are competing views regarding the
sustainability of a recovery. The company is continuing to pursue its long
term strategy of aggressively transitioning to the 757 domestically and the
777 internationally while fully understanding we may face some economic
headwinds in the short term.
As always, it is extremely important that you update your standing bid and
that it reflects what you want to fly. Your standing bid and seniority
will be the final determining factors when this vacancy posting is
awarded. The bid opens today, July 6, 2010 and will close at 1400z on
Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

757 First Officers
All 757 First Officers must obtain and maintain a First Class medical
effective with the August 2010 bid period award. In accordance with ICAO
standards, a first class medical is required when flying in Europe.

Secondary Vacancies
Secondary vacancies will be evaluated at the close of the bid.

Practice Bid
There will be two practice bids; Thursday, July 8th and Thursday, July 15th

Future Bids
We are currently evaluating plans for a 757 FDA in EMEA and an MD11 FDA in
HKG. These could potentially be posted in the fall/winter of 2010/11.

Training
It is expected that training for Posting 10-02 will begin in August, 2010.

Fleet Plan
Projected fleet requirements are shown as total fleet and operating fleet
(in parentheses).

Fleet 727 757 DC10 Airbus-a MD10-b MD11 777
May 2010 75(44) 22(19) 2(0) 121(96) 73(54) 59(50) 4(4)

b – MD10 operating count excludes MX, Spares and Excess (excess is
approximately 7, 8 & 6, respectively for each year)

Regards,

Paul Cassel
Vice President, Flight Operations

757 Vacancy #s seem a bit low ---- 24 Capts & 24 FOs

Looks like that will only expand the training letter out to Nov or Dec.

Perhaps they are planning to dedicate the training slots after that to those who bid the future 757 FDA.

Probably a good assumption...

Any idea if this might lead to any hiring? Also, does anyone have any idea when the application website will be open to new apps? Thanks!

I really hope so. We'll see how this bid fills in. I would be surprised if there weren't some holes to be filled when it's all said and done. However, I wouldn't expect anything until after Peak. The company just doesn't move that fast to have a bid AND hiring. They'll look at how this does and make a decision. I'd say January at the earliest. But I could be totally wrong.
