Think of the FE written as good practice for becoming a FDX pilot.
I've got to keep current a China visa, an Indian visa, a Schengen visa, a US passport, a Class I medical, a radiation badge and a company ID that expires. I've got two recurrent events a year, the Global War on Error yearly, CRM and Hazmat yearly, and web-based training yearly. About once a year we get some special one-time training via web or class (L-888, Flag Ops). Then there's the FCIF's and Crew Notifications. Very few are the months that I don't have something to do to stay current. So retaking an FE written is just good preparation for what is to come. |
Don't forget your Fox Expense reports Huck!!

Uhh....Don't show up to interview without it. Not having it is telling the interviewers you aren't serious and are hoping for a REAL airline job before you get called by FedEx.
Not having it is the wrong way to "stand out" in the interview. At least that's how it used to be. ...and if "O" does institute some type of "meet-n-greet" process prior to the actual interview have it done BEFORE that first meeting too. I was specifically asked about the test and my score during the "meet-n-greet". ...had just completed it 2 days prior! :) |
I heard from a Rep from "O's" office in an FO Course that the "Meet and Greets" were a dead issue.. not going to happen.. other than a process of checking in with those in the pool to see what they have been up to the last 3 years.. and to make sure they haven't spent any time in jail or any other troubles with the law or the Federales.

Is that just for the poolies or for new hires as well? Thanks!
At least that is what was told to us in class. |
OK, this might be a stupid question, but I'd rather try to make sure I have all my ducks in a row, just in case.
So here it goes...I have a flight engineer certificate that I got on the DC10 many years back. I only flew the sim, so my license lists the rating but says that the limitation is issued under and subject to FAA exemption 4901. It does not have an expiration date. To me, it looks like it meets the website qualifications "Current FE Turbojet Rating or written (FEX or Basic/turbojet)" but I wanted to me sure, just in case I'm lucky enough to get a call once the window opens again. If I should still take the written, that's what I'll do. Thanks for the input. |
No, you have a FE rating and ticket. You wouldn't even be allowed to take a test for a rating you already have.
The exemption will be removed after IOE here at FedEx.

HD,
That's what I thought, but I wanted to double check. I appreciate the response. |
Any new news on pro's/corp internal classes. Still Jan/Feb 727 SO? Just like to keep this thread going.
