Online App?

Anyone have an idea when the online app will open up? With all the talk of hiring next year I would have thought it would have been up by now. Thanks.

Heard a rumor on the crew bus today that the company has backed away from their hiring numbers for CY 2011? Anyone else heard this?

It was going to be 15-20 a month for the year. This person mentioned he heard they would hire the internals and that would be it for a long while. They are starting to expect the economy to tank once again.

Discuss?

Even after training the internals they will still be very short in the back seat. I think that they will have to hire just to bring that seat up to the captain and f.o.'s numbers. I do think its wise not overhire until they absolutely have to. But I've also heard that there are a good number retiring.

They're going to park a few 727s.

The number of 757s in operation will rise significantly in 2011.

I'm curious to know where the 15-20 per month for the year came from. Haven't seen anything official on that, I would say that was an optimistic rumor. There could be more hiring, but then again, maybe not. I wouldn't count on it, but wouldn't rule out the possibility either. The economy and retirements will dictate.

I was told the same thing and it came from a better spot than the crew bus. Supposedly, management would like to avoid the slightest chance of a second 4.A.2.b round if the recovery slows.

O mentioned that this is they way he would "prefer" to hire. He said he disliked having to do a mass hire to catch up, but it was not his decision. I do not have the direct quote, but this is what I took from the discussion.

I'd be surprised if they announced any hiring plans before they have a good grasp on how many guys are gonna retire.
