Default FedEx 727 donated to Purdue

Hey all-

Do any of you FedEx jet jockeys happen know know the tail number of the plane that was recently donated to Purdue U, or if it's keeping its FedEx livery?

I am a junior in Purdue's flight program. The tail number is N180FE. I have talked to my professors about whether or not they are going to change the paint scheme...their response was "until we gather enough funds to do so, the FedEx scheme will do."

You should see what happened to the one donated to the tech school in Mobile, Alabama.

The school sold it to an airline-themed restaraunt. They cut off the tail and mounted it in front of the building. They are turning the fuselage into a bar. Don't know what happened to the wings. (The food is good by the way).

FedEx - Federal Express
Boeing 727-22
Lafayette - Purdue University (LAF / KLAF)
USA - Indiana, September 19, 2006

Remark Photographer

N180FE (cn 18867/247) "Alayna" is treated to a traditional water canon salute as Purdue University receives yet another aircraft laboratory from a close corporate partner; FedEx's generous donation, valued at $650,000, is seen here during the official dedication ceremony at Purdue Airport. The aircraft was withdrawn from commercial sevice in July, arrived at Purdue on August 1, and will now be used alongside a former United Airlines 737-200 as a maintenance, systems, and taxi trainer under the Department of Aviation Technology.

Added notes:

She started life with United Airlines as N7060U was converted to 727-22F in 1989. She was eventually leased to Morningstar Air Express to operate the intra-Canada service. She was registered as C-GBWS

If it was a FedEx plane, it must be a fast food joint.

Did they keep the livery on that one?

It was painted over before it was delivered. Looked like the one at the tech school in MEM....
