Your leadership team will be meeting over the next few weeks to weigh this decision and its effect on our current negotiations. As this decision will directly and immediately impact the lives of so many of our pilots, we will undertake a review of our current strategy and utilizing all the available data we will decide how best to proceed.

In Unity,

I hope our NC doesn't decide to put great negotiating capital in an attempt to secure A380 rates for the 777. People bid it knowing it was a WB rate and they took the chance that it would be ruled this way.

We lost another arbitration decision? Wow, truly truly shocking. Never saw that coming.

The ink wasn't even dry on the 2006 contract when the company announced it was cancelling the A380 order. Must have taken a lot of self-control for the company's negotiators to keep a straight face with all the back-and-forth over A380 rates--too bad the union side thought that jet was still in play.

So I'll go out on a small limb and predict--everyone who holds a current bid award for the 777 is going to be ALL in favor of negotiating a lot to get a higher pay rate for it. And the rest of the unwashed masses are not.

Let the debate continue...

No great surprise. Luckily we own the ULR work rules (those were for the 380 only).

I hope we don't discuss work rule changes outside of normal contract negotiations.

I really don't know if I should laugh or cry but I do know that the next time the union says it's going to take an issue to arbitration, my money (sic) is going to go with the company.

So, the guys holding on for a lump sum of retro pay can go ahead and retire.

Shot down again by the arbitrator. Imagine that. Perhaps the next time we're involved with an arbitrator we should just ask for his price list up front. I doubt our union dues would be enough though. Politicians are paid handsomely to vote one way or another on issues. Why should arbitrators be any different when millions of dollars are at stake. Not saying it happened but it's possible.

It's a widebody! Move along, nothing to see here. Don't waste any more of my money negotiating for more pay for this one airframe. The rate is obviously fine since so many people, including our formar MEC Chair bid it. How about a healthy pay raise for all!
